hmmm, yeah, i suppose it is. it was a 3DS game first, which maybe explains that, but it is also hard to imagine S-E wouldn’t eventually port it some years down the line

I’m following the research on Mario Kart World’s hidden stats.
So far, we believe that each character and kart has a small speed boost on a specific type of terrain. Interestingly, Mario is said to perform better on “smooth” terrain while Luigi prefers “rough” terrain despite his immense real estate wealth. He’s “new money.”

ok, so…it is possible…that i am dumb. however
i think the way the HDR setup presents itself is a little obtuse. for example, i didn’t realize until tonight that there are two settings, and you can only access the slider on the second image by pressing Y. yes, it does say that, but my brain only registered “this is what the image will look like” and i was like “ok”
so, with that, i also came upon this:
i would say that this is sort of helpful - the screen #1 clicks are good for my TV and my settings, but i had to play around with the #2 screen to get it right. and now, i can say, the Switch 2 HDR looks pretty good; not washed out. it was driving me nuts

I’ve seen this guide going around but I absolutely can’t for the life of me find out what my (admittedly junky) Hisense TV actually has as its HDR specs. It’s not in the manual or anything, all I can find is that HDR is supported.
DK can turn into a zebra to run on water or into an ostrich to fly. Young Pauline is a co-op cursor who learns to believe in herself.

I’ve been inclined to get this since, lol, I have a Switch 2, and I enjoy a good platformer
Real ups and downs with this video though. Destruction mechanics look cool. Feel like it is Mario Odyssey 2, though I feel some Tears of the Kingdom traces in it too?
But mostly, the way the announcer spoke, and Pauline’s awful voice acting and cheesy “my dream is to sing” deal are embarrassing.

It seems like a weird niche because virtually all the games you can beam to a Switch 1 are local multiplayer games with a shared camera, but I have to remember that kids don’t have TVs anymore.

I find it kinda funny how they’ve retconned Donkey Kong being a horrible beast who kidnapped adult Pauline to “actually he was her buddy when she was a kid”… This could have been cool if it led to them recontextualising the events of the original Donkey Kong arcade game as “Mario was actually being a massive bastard, they’re buddies”… (mini-edit: oh wait, that’s just the plot of Braid, isn’t it? Thinking of a world where Mario invented the atomic bomb now… Y’know, maybe this was a missed opportunity!!)
Also there’s an interesting synchronicity between Nintendo of old following on the heels of Disney and this new game having all these musical numbers that sound kinda like Frozen… For better or worse, we’ve come full circle, folks!
As for the game itself, the Odyssey 2 comments seem quite accurate. A lot of the stages do feel like huge playgrounds for collectibles just like the original odyssey, only now you’ve got skill trees and the fun costumes that just felt like a goofy bonus before now have stats attached… I think I’d take the free tech demo version of this that focuses purely on the destructible terrain stuff instead, but at this stage I think it’s safe to say I’m no longer a part of the target audience for stuff like this so, eh…

it won’t be a rock solid 60 fps because they doubled buffered the game in this year of our lord 2025 so you’ll get 60 or 30 and like it
