Open world RPG but you’re a shark. It’s Maneater! The spiritual sequel to Jaws: Unleashed no one was expecting?
this looks… extremely similar to blasphemous? but is apparently not related at all?
It’s not an uncommon art style. Slain: Back From Hell is similar. I expect a lot of people saw Volgarr the Viking and said to themselves “Well I can do that.”
I feel like these two games are far more similar to each aesthetically than this is. like they use a similar perspective, has a similar animation style, both rely heavily on catholic religious imagery. the main character’s sword pose is even similar.
blasphemous was much cooler aesthetically, it’s honestly a shame that the game itself was kind of undercooked. the last faith looks a lot more polished and looks like it has more rpg elements. idk I guess it’s fine it just seems weird to me!
all of these games lool like butt cuz they lack the cadence and rhythm of old platformers in exchange fo being kishin douji zenki
Is it worth the plunge? Normally I dislike the grind of MMOs but heard FF14’s story is pretty good.
FF14 is the third greatest (and the gayest) MMO ever created so yes.
the story is very good. it’s true that it kicks up another gear at heavensward, but before that it is good too.
i think the 2.x run, despite being a notorious slog (that is getting fixed in 5.3), is actually some of the best content in the game.
hell yeah we are talking about ffxiv in four threads
my time has come
but yea come play and spam the ffxiv thread with your adventures. we have a discord for sb players as well
the voice acting is the worst part at first but they fire everyone and replace them in the second expansion.
everyone you speak with will argue about when the story gets good but i have now witnessed like 10 sbers make it through the first expansion so i think i care about that arguement way less than i used to. like im with dedede69 now, whereas six months ago i would have been like ‘once you get to X it starts getting good’
edit the further you get in the more it rewards you for paying attention before so that probably contributes to me liking it more and more. like the better-written expansions recontextualize things i didnt pay attention to in a compelling way
“Uses DUALSHOCK 4 vibration function”
This week I have a lengthy, charming interview with the Legend of Mana development team from 1999, covering all aspects of the game’s creation: art design, story, music, battle systems, and more!
—Takai, I know you like pro wrestling… I bet you thinking an action RPG would allow you to put in some wrestling moves.
Takai: You’ve got my number. (laughs) Just as a little easter egg of course. With the combo system in Saga Frontier, I felt that I’d taken turn-based RPGs as far as they could go, and the only thing left to try was a real-time combat system where you could move your characters around, hence my wanting to challenge myself with an action RPG.
Ishii: Oh, I thought pro wrestling was your main inspiration.
Takai: … well, no, I mean, it’s more like once I got involved in this development, I figured I’d try and sneak some wrestling stuff in. (laughs)
—Takai, I think someday you’re going to grace us with an RPG with a wonderful pro-wrestling action system.
Takai: Nah, I think it’s more fun for me to play a wrestling game than to make one, sorry. (laughs) But I do I enjoy forcing wrestling stuff into a game like this.
—Were there any wrestling moves you wanted to include, but couldn’t?
Takai: Joint locks. I always want to add them but it never seems to work out. This time, when I considered an enemy like a rabite, I realized there were no “joints” to lock. (laughs)
