Real missed opportunity not charging $2,077.

from what i’ve read (so feel free to take this with a grain of salt), the original baroque and the remake are more or less exactly the same, with the big differences being the graphics, sound, and perspective. and apparently this goes for the script, too. so while it wouldn’t be easy to completely localize the game, it also wouldn’t be impossible.

yeah, that’s what i’ve been talking about. can confirm the two are structurally and textually identical (i think there might be some mechanical changes in terms of character controls besides the perspective shift as well but stuff like items etc. are also intact). i guess it mostly comes down to whether atlus would be involved/provide their localization, provided sting is interested in releasing it in the west in the first place and have the means to do something like that (like, idk if this is just an emulation of the saturn version or if they have the source code or what).

if it is, good luck with your localization. that’s part of why we didn’t get OG Devil Summoner for the PSP, if I recall correctly (it’s emulated, rather than a port re-built for the PSP like the Persona games got).

Today we are proud to announce that alongside the launch of the Remastered Collection, Electronic Arts will be releasing the TiberianDawn.dll and RedAlert.dll and their corresponding source code under the GPL version 3.0 license. This is a key moment for Electronic Arts, the C&C community, and the gaming industry, as we believe this will be one of the first major RTS franchises to open source their source code under the GPL. It’s worth noting this initiative is the direct result of a collaboration between some of the community council members and our teams at EA. After discussing with the council members, we made the decision to go with the GPL license to ensure compatibility with projects like CnCNet and Open RA. Our goal was to deliver the source code in a way that would be truly beneficial for the community, and we hope this will enable amazing community projects for years to come.

Here’s a cool rumor that might not be true but would be really cool if it were.

https://gamerant.com/bluepoint-remakes-jak-daxter-blood-omen-legacy-kain/

The leak suggests that a remake of the Jak and Daxter trilogy is scheduled to be released alongside the launch of the PlayStation 5 and a remake of Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is set to be released in 2021.

Both of these remakes seem to be a considerable shift from the originals. Jak and Daxter will place the events of the trilogy into one coherent game according to this leak. The leak claims there will be new narrative and gameplay elements that will be integrated into this well-known story. This may cause concerns for fans of the series, and it will be interesting to see how smoothly new features can be integrated. This leak also states that one of the primary developers of the original titles, Naughty Dog, is collaborating with Bluepoint Games on the title.

Much like Jak and Daxter , the Legacy of Kain franchise also had canceled games despite a loyal fan base. The first game of Legacy of Kain franchise seems to be undergoing an even more substantial remake that the Jak and Daxter games. The game is said to be being made as part of a collaboration with Square Enix, and it intends to re-purpose the plot for a major update to the gameplay.

With the remake of Legacy of Kain , Bluepoint is trying to mirror its success at updating the mood and environment as it did with Shadow of Colossus . Square Enix is apparently focusing on keeping the puzzle and adventure elements from the original game while introducing aspects of the Dark Souls series.

I’m downloading the PSX version of this as I write this post to play on my RG350. I’ve never spent too much time with these because I’ve always had a very strong aversion to WRPGs, but people say it’s Pretty Rad. Also, people seem to like the one with the blue guy, too; I seem to remember having a demo disc (probably a PlayStation Underground disc) with a demo of it.

Be sure to post your impressions. I only played it a little 15+ years ago. I remember thinking it was a neat game but my main reason for checking it out was because I liked the later games in the series.

This article keeps referring to a leak but I don’t see it ever saying what leak they’re talking about, so I’m going to assume they’re making an article out of a joke someone made on Reddit or Resetera.

That leak doesn’t say Jak and Daxter. It says Jek and Daxter, multiple times. So Bluepoint must be remaking what sounds like a pirate cart for the NES or GBA.

It also only says Legacy of Kain game, so I’m going to assume Bluepoint is remaking Nosgoth, the multiplayer only shooter.

Edit: if the do make a Jak and Daxter remake it has to look like the reboot Naughty Dog was working on for PS3.

Jak and Daxter was my psuedo open world platformer jam. Not that I have much hopes but the third game could do with a rewrite.
