STUNLOCK THE PRESSES: combo breaking news (Part 1)

I just saw a preview image for this and thought it looked neat. The first thing I thought of was Kirby’s Adventure due to the UFO ability (and the claw machine), so it makes sense that it’s from HAL.

Edit: I see now that the UFO looks almost exactly like the one from Kirby, and Kirby appears in some form in this game. I am truly the Sherlock Holmes of videogames.

I’m still a little shocked they put him in Smash, but this is completely out of left field.

Took me a long while to figure out that joke

More of a gameplay showcase than trailer.

What’s up with all the grunting

That’s a lot of grunting, right?

The sound design overall sounds more over the top and crowded than I remember, but, man, tha grunting

lol why does every magic spell sound like a michael bay transformers action sequence

hehe, when the player falls down that pit at the start of 2-2 in the trailer… some people are gonna think they can just do that but there ain’t no fancy editing to save you from falling to death in the real world of games :smirk:

For all the work they put into making FX for small things like idk turning the elevator crank, it’s real weird that the rock drop effect at ~30s is so bad. It’s also weird that the feedback for hitting the rockworm is like a huge flash whereas the feedback for hitting the Spiderboss is… a tiny wiggle.

flamelurker doesn’t look as bad as i thought he would from the unclear view in previous trailer (still not great). don’t like how swing animations look and sound, neither from the player or the enemies

the sense of weight or lack of it everywhere is entertainingly off
if you’re gonna update the graphics you need to do the other stuff too please, relevant studio

I would be much more entertained if I could figure out how to detach myself from my affection for the original Demons Souls.

i just can’t get over how the little twinkly swish sound of soul arrow is now some subwoofer shaking marvel cinematic universe nonsense. i know it’s a tiny thing to fuss about but like, do these devs even like the original at all or is this just a “quick lets throw a western AAA comicfilm/game coat of paint on this and ship it” release

We may be witnessing a remake of the idea of Souls. Demon’s Souls may forever be trapped within the fog of the PS3 and its emulations

these trailers are bizarre, i love how they never stop and look at around at anything for even one second, just like me, when i play souls that stick is tilted straight up at all times baby

agree completely about the magic it’s completely hilarious

i almost hope nobody involved liked demon’s souls in the first place, the alternative possibility that people that liked demon’s souls but somehow perceived that “god of war 2018 but worse” was in there somewhere is too grim

i can’t believe how bad it looks when they hit the spider

anyway i promise to love this game if it doesn’t have any UI at all like they’re for some reason pretending

ok yeah these people are hacks lmao. you can’t divorce a work from its art direction and call it “true to the original vision”

“Our approach to this is we try and keep the core of the game untouched. With Demon’s Souls , that’s the gameplay, the logic, and the AI, and then everything else is stripped away. And then utilizing the incredible power of the PlayStation 5 and how much we could really go wild on this title, we started to build everything back.”

Moore said that the developers are taking their Demon’s Souls duties seriously, and that “nothing goes into this game without being scrutinized in detail.” And while original developer FromSoftware was not involved in the creation of the remake, it nevertheless gave Sony and Bluepoint its blessing, Moore told me.

“As long as the core remains, and we’re true to the original vision, then we feel comfortable adding stuff into the game,” Moore said. “That’s how we approach it. That’s our ethos.”

Video game remakes are bad.

I can tell you from experience that the michael bay SFX is probably some lead telling the sound designers to “make it bigger” for months because they’re probably only testing the magic system on its own in some test level or whatever

that said michael bay does have two films in the criterion collection so

It should be illegal to release a remake without offering a straight-up port (maaaaaybe a little bit of asset upgrading) alongside it
