STUNLOCK THE PRESSES: combo breaking news (Part 1)

But does it make the taco bell bong sound when booting up?

Does BK even have a sound at all they could use?

Don’t underestimate no purchase necessary loopholes, my family has won two 4th generations iPods out of them.

Yeah, I won a PSVR from Taco Bell one year by using the free codes every day. I used several different e-mail addresses to get multiple entries per day, but that was also when there was only one code per day. This time it’s 3 codes per day but you can’t use the same phone number and shipping address twice when making new accounts with a new e-mail address.

It’s all still just a crapshoot as to whether you happen to enter your code on the second right when the prize is activated in whatever 15 minute windows they’re using.

Peak horror was when they looked straight down and you saw the character was barefoot and possibly even pants-less inside this gross giger-meets-cronenburg sweat lodge.

yeah hollow knight was like that

Damn I gotta try that when I’ve got the money then. Hollow knight and rain world have been on that same economic level for me for a while

I’d be really interested in how much crossover these two games’ audiences have. I love Rain World because it’s so aesthetically pure to the point of being user-hostile, while I respect and enjoy but don’t really like Hollow Knight because it’s so polite and thoughtful that I can’t take its miserabilist, Souls-cribbing tone seriously.

yeah those two games feel like they’re kind of at cross purposes with each other. i liked Hollow Knight as a fun indie metroidvania with nice aesthetics that’s not nearly as cringe as others in the genre but it’s so hard to take it seriously as anything more than that. Rain World is its own kind of experience. i’m imagining Rain World will have a longer tail as an artistically important game but its time hasn’t really come yet for that, whereas Hollow Knight in the present moment is almost completely ubiquitous and deeply embodies so many different trends of the last 5 years or so.

it was interesting to be home for christmas last year and hear how deeply obsessed my 14-year-old niece is with Hollow Knight; it fit right into her fanart communities as she moved from ‘dragons, general’ to Undertale to Hollow Knight.

Hollow Knight is definitely one of the handful of indie games like Undertale or Celeste which seems to have broken into the pseudo-mainstream consciousness, especially among teens and younger kids.

I suppose my aesthetic short circuit is that I don’t see any demarcation between user-hostile, polite, and thoughtful.

Durandal is the only game character that can love you

i facetiously tell people to play rain world every time hollow knight comes up in conversation, but i don’t think there’s much connecting them at all. it’s probably doing rain world a disservice to do that, and maybe sets people up to bounce off RW if they do try and play it.

Nintendo is going to make so much fucking money when they inevitably do this for Mother 3

On reflection I think I don’t want an official localization of Mother 3 and haven’t for about a decade.
