Whatās the over/under on Sony announcing a 1080p PS5? Iām thinking like 20:1 against
the ps4 interface isnāt anything special but I will never miss the cross media bar. I hated that UI so much. still baffles me as to why retroarch copied it.

I pulled out the ps3 to run through Demonās Souls again this weekend and I can see why it would frustrate people having to scroll through a column to dig out the thing you needed. I kind of liked it, at least in the ps3 iteration, as it has sort of a clicky rotary dial phone feel but it could do with a search keyword function.

God I loved my Erickson phone with the xmb.
I love the XMB!! Itās also awful for large libraries! I never use Retroarchās Library System.

Oh huh thisā¦is out.
xmb is bad. if you look at the timeline of retroarchās development and the implementation of the xmb theme, it was during a time that people were less aware how bad xmb is.
conversely, xmb is pretty, and libretro wanted to legitimize themselves a bit by making retroarch more pretty.
please note xmb is no longer the default for retroarch! good riddance!

the only console ui thing that really gets on my nerves is how badly the ps4/switch shit themselves when you start browsing their online stores, makes it a necessity to buy anything for them via my desktop
how recent is this? i reinstalled like two weeks ago and it was still the default

full reinstall? no old config files lying around? they switched over in feb/march of this year (1.8.5). i think my last retroarch install was in july and it installed ozone as default properly

yeah it was a full reinstall on a new drive even but somehow iāve downloaded 1.8.4
XMB is iconic and I love it to death but it only really works if you fully buy into using these devices as multipurpose multimedia centres instead of dedicated gaming consoles
If the PSX wasnāt an unreliable locked down piece of garbage I would buy one just to have a PS2 with XMB

Would have loved the XMB that much more if itād had a better way to organize your downloaded games.
Pretty wacky that the Switch interface is still what it is. Iād like a new option maybe.
