I’m intensely confused about why you would actively choose to do the whole game with 3D graphics but do everything to replicate the wonky full-on profile perspective animations of the original
what the hell do I know about anything

I’ll be honest I didn’t play Monster Boy because it was so expensive and I have never liked a Wonderboy game that much. But it looked nice and seems like a good wonderboy.
Monster Boy wasn’t bad exactly but it was unnecessarily long and wore out its welcome about halfway through
Monster Boy had a couple decent ideas (mostly borrowed from Dragon’s Trap) that it mostly had no idea what to do with and occasional bits of ambition, but a few areas were bafflingly long (that haunted house area was endless) and it had some of the most egregious third act padding I’ve seen in a game. It had something like the Metroid Prime relic hunt, except not as well done and followed shortly after by a second one of them. I really dug Dragon’s Trap and was pulling for Monster Boy, but it is very much a 5 out of 10 kinda game.
Vita dpad and button switches
I’m going to cum
well I’m fucking sold, the vita is the best feeling handheld to use
yeah, i ordered one.
i wonder if it can run melty blood
I’ve been thinking about getting an emulation handheld. That Retroid-thing doesn’t look like the one for me, but it sounds like some SB folk will probably be getting it. Curious to hear everyone’s thoughts on it. Maybe if I pick up something we can compare.
as much as I like CRTpi for relatively low spec emulation, I’m still sceptical of all these gp32 derivatives in terms of software support &c. – for handhelds I would still recommend a gamevice with retroarch on your phone for now, but I think the next generation of fpga stuff will be really compelling
I watched all of this. There’s a real head-turning moment about 2/3rds in.
They spend most of the video building the game up as an educational, interactive nature documentary (complete with bootleg David Attenborough narration, lol). Then suddenly they go “hmm, you’re too small to fit into this gap. Eat some blue mushrooms to fill up your sugar glider’s POSSESSION METER, and possess a nearby beetle!”
Looks like it could be a good time, but I want to wait and see how it’s received. Lol at the sugar glider’s dark souls dodge roll.
I remember when people were hoping Deadly Creatures would be the Wii’s killer app.
why is the glider animated like a tiny monkey
why is gliding energy-intensive but hopping around like mario not even mentioned
why does a nocturnal marsupial need to get home before dark
