Dotemu, Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games are thrilled to reveal that Yūzō Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima, the original Streets of Rage series’ incomparable composers, will be joined by an all-star ensemble in contributing brand new tracks for the Streets of Rage 4 soundtrack.
Thanks to the help of Brave Wave Productions, a music label that brings the work of Japanese game musicians to global audiences, Streets of Rage 4 will feature original music from:
- Yūzō Koshiro (Streets of Rage 1, 2 & 3, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Revenge Shinobi, Shenmue I & II,…)
- Motohiro Kawashima (Streets of Rage 2 & 3, Shinobi II, Batman Returns,…)
- Yoko Shimomura (Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, Kingdom Hearts I, II & III, Legend of Mana, Parasite Eve,…)
- Hideki Naganuma (Jet Set Radio & Future, Super Monkey Ball, Sega Rally 2,…)
- Keiji Yamagishi (Ninja Gaiden, Tecmo Bowl,…)
More information and surprises about the Streets of Rage 4 soundtrack will be revealed in the future.

I don’t think the SF2 soundtrack fits particularly well with streets of rage, and I will admit that I didn’t even know she did final fight. she’s spent the last 20+ years doing lots of orchestral work, and I doubt she needed the extra gig. seems superfluous.
Naganuma isn’t really a super perfect fit with SoR either, if you consider the stuff he’s done that everyone goes bananas over
hell, the SoR3 OST isn’t a perfect fit with SoR and it’s the best one (FIGHT ME)

The Final Fight soundtrack rules. It’s a shame in most arcade situations it was too low to actually hear volume and pitchwise. It wasn’t until the mame era that I really actually noticed it, and I spent a ton of quarters on FF over the years.

naganuma doesnt make club music he makes music that would be in those first couple ipod commercials that had some goofy computer guy dancing in them
Naganuma makes really good short loops
the longer the music is on, the more you realize he’s making a highly concentrated 30 seconds of [genre]
this is why everyone falls over themselves to praise the Sonic Rush OST, you only hear songs loop three or four times at most and they don’t need to have that hypnotic lasting power that brings you into flow state like most of Koshiro’s SoR works do

I’m glad it’s corrected, but the very idea that someone was ready to go with a new SoR without getting Yuzo Koshiro on board at the outset is worrying.
The game looks a lot better in motion in that clip than I original assumed though.
Shimomura seems like an odd choice, but I can picture the rest participating in this. Agreed that starting a SoR reboot without Koshiro seems dumb, but I think Kawashima’s involvement is just as important.
Still feel like this game is 20 years past relevancy, but everyone is trying to resell their lack of ideas for video games lately.
well, Sega’s not doing it (not that I don’t trust them because there’s a pretty clear throughline from Spikeout to Yakuza) and they already had written off the relevance of the series ~18 years ago so why not give a bunch of weird French dudes a swing at it
dunno if I would accuse use of an old IP as “lack of ideas” though. like, bringing back Bubsy but the games are just reskins of things the devs had already worked out is way more cynical than a group building some clout and getting permission and go a bit weird with the finished result

Cherry Hunter is the daughter of Adam Hunter from the original Streets of Rage.
Her interest in following in her father’s footsteps and becoming a cop soon faded out, replaced by her love of music. Nowadays, she plays with her electro progressive rock band.
