Don’t hesitate to use specials in this one, you can regain the health expense back from them if you manage to get enough punches in without interruption after.
Also you can catch items mid-flight, which is something they get quite a bit of mileage out of. I grinned when I got my hands on a boomerang or sent shurikens right back to their senders.

- playing with the guitar girl is good you can really go wild
- as i have always said juggling fixes the beat em up genre
- looks cool in general, but the default mooks look wack
- if i turn on the ‘ultra-low-latency’ mode I can’t hit solid 60fps

i remember being cautiously hopeful when this was announced. as soon as i started hitting the first enemy in stage one, i knew i loved this game

maybe it’s purely because i didn’t actually grow up with it but this game has every bad beatemup combat design that games have gotten better about in the last twenty years
i think the thing that is the wildest is that enemies are randomly capable of moving faster than you and get frames of invincibility that you don’t get lol who thought that was a good idea
streets of rage remake still plays better and sounds better
yeah apparently the game pass and xbox versions don’t have the visual options, and all the other versions do. including other PC releases. mystifying.
it seems to be missing sounds too (the most obvious being Big Bens don’t have their laugh)? and the timing for keeping up a chain feels different?

Your defense special and grab throw moves are invincible.
there are a lot of times where it’s better to take it on the chin then it is to try to armor through nonsense with your neutral special or tech land

Feels like Axel gets punished really hard for pressing buttons; much more than the rest of the cast. Finally started doing well with him but I had to slow way the fuck down.
If it’s just 1 on 1 he has insane single target damage though. If there’s a group of any kind he has to be way pickier with which moves he uses.
