Street Fight Money V

Can you not see demonstrative animations of each combo? I don’t get why every fighting game doesn’t just copy Virtua Fighter Evo’s training mode.

You can.

It’s pretty great

The boombap-ness isn’t going to return, this is a fair concession

So the trial combo mode doesn’t list the button commands for each bit (unlike SF4), and I’m constantly looking at the menu to see what the fuck some of these things are. It’s a complete nightmare for Karin, who I don’t play as.

There’s an option to set it to move commands!

whoops

that sure would have helped

I don’t think Alex has any solid wakeup reversal options other than super? Got put in the corner mixer real bad a few times, and had a real time dealing with Cammy in general. All EXs getting stuffed by meaties and throws, his EX elbow has armor but not at startup - make it like Birdie’s and that would change the game I think. Apparently Powerbomb has 6f startup. Hmm. None of his lows cancel. Doesn’t seem like you can crossup with stomp, real bummer. Was trying to use f.HP and c.HP as antiairs and they are unreliable, but apparently internet says s.LP is good.

Land a Powerbomb and then immediately s.HK, will crush wakeup 3f normals. f.HP is +3 on block. MP Chop is +3 on hit, s.MP has 6f startup, interesting. Hmm.

I did it. All thanks to the rematch feature, I am now gold. Luck has left me standing so tall.

I really like Alex’s v-skill as a nod to 3s style ‘utility taunts’, and the ability to cash in stun for neat cc combos is cool. Speaking of stun, man, he sure does do a lot of it. Counter hit hpxxhp chop, ex backdrop does over half of everyone’s bar. Not really sure what to do once you lose momentum though. lp seems ok-ish for anti-air. Still eating jump ins for trying to get a c.hp at angles that just don’t work anymore. c.mp still a workhorse. Actually reaches further than mk thanks to Alex’s freakishly long arms.

I had a salty post in this thread that I deleted because I started having fun with Alex. You’ve saved us all, Capcom.

good scrub tactic: if you hit an MPxxLPchop, a followup MP will beat anything I think 5 frames or higher. if they block it MPxxLKelbow is a blockstring. if they eat it you start over. scrubby because you lose out to jabs. you lose out to reversals too, but if people are DPing after you hit a chop they’re going to have bigger problems in the end. if you hit an MP chop instead of an LP one you get an extra frame, which means you counter hit any button that isn’t a 3f jab. if you’re close enough you get a free powerbomb after an MP chop, which encourage people to hit buttons. the problem is the only way to hit a MP chop reliably is to hit st.HP or a counter hit MP, so you have to do some work.

It also cancels off of his v-trigger special on hit, so you can give up the backdrop for that mp/unscaled command grab mixup. Interestingly, blocked mpxxmp chop trades with mashed 4 frame jabs highly in your favor. You can get pretty much anything you want afterwards, depending on the range. Not super useful, but fun to try for.

I don’t know why I love this combo so much. Not hard, but so satisfying.

joy2key got me hori mini 4 working with pc SFV

for real though I can’t beat anyone at this game

play me geist I just got the game haven’t opened it and am playing Yak5 instead but I promise you’ll be able to take. me. down.

fightmans id is honukk come at me

remember when they said they were going to do something about ragequitters? and then by “something” they meant “if you send us a screenshot of someone rage quitting at 6000+ lp we will dock LP from them and post about it on twitter for PR purposes?” well, I don’t play at 6000 lp, so this was not much of a solution for me.

also why doesn’t the fighter profile work. why doesn’t anything work in this game.

The game was done, but everything else surrounding the game was not done. Early Access by another name.

well I’ve once again done my customary “have one good day of games to make it kind of sort of feel like you’re learning something, then immediately lose 500 lp the next day to end at the same place you ended day 1” thing. feels good.

Not even the game was done. A whole bunch of characters who were massively imbalanced, overpowered characters who got buffs during the beta or vice-versa, an unavoidable lag problem in the architecture that would literally require them to re-do a colossal chunk of the game’s code (like FFXIV), previewed concepts that barely appeared (interactive/breakable stage movement), standard gameplay features that are barely explained etc. etc. etc.

Then there’s a fundamental lack of other SP options, a lack of playable characters but with no end of teasers, unavailable basic features and so on. And yet, all of this would be a lot less of a problem if the game weren’t so niche and selling like shit. £50, please.
