Street Fight Money V

that’s common in every FG, especially airdashers

it’s easy to understand, really. attacking non stop doesn’t require understanding of the game or of the character your opponent is using. of course an understanding will help, and you’re still a scrub if you have no idea if what you are doing is safe, etc., but you can always go crazy, hope something hits, and then extend it. blocking doesn’t kill anyone. you successfully block a bunch of stuff, the other guy is still there. you successfully go ham and hit your biggest combo, the other guy is dead. so that’s what people want to do.

I really don’t get how LP works in this game. I win 6 in a row to get to a new high, then I lose one to a necali and get 2-0’d by a fang with 1300 lp more than me and I’m 50 lp below where I was before I won 6 in a row. how the fuck does that work?

speaking of fang, does he have a single move that isn’t safe? I don’t get this character. I will probably lose to every single one I play until I play a bunch of them, which at this rate will take me two years.

Can’t believe I’m actually prioritizing Street Fighter V over Dark Souls 3, but I’m hooked. This is probably because I haven’t bothered playing a fighting game since I was kid, but I was so smitten with the art and presentation on display in SFV that I decided to give it a shot.

I definitely have more appreciation for the precision, strategy and practice required to be a competent fighting game player, and I’ve been working hard to play the game the right way.

Haven’t played any ranked matches yet, but I’ve been doing pretty well in the casual matches I’ve played. I think last night I went 5-3 in all my fights, and I was the lower ranked character in each of them.

Trying to master Ryu, as I get the sense his move set is the most versatile, but I’m having difficulty getting off a denjin hadouken after a regular hadouken. Takes some serious speed and precision.

Yes. Rush punch is punishable if he does it too close, sweep is bad as always, you can hit him out of his slide and throw him out of EX slide or alpha counter. His + normals are the standing double knee and the crouching axe kick. Standing Heavy Punch (big downward chop) is even. The rest are slightly minus.

DLC character 2 is still scheduled for this month right? Maybe Capcom won’t even bother revealing who the character is and Balrog will just show up in a patch on the 27th.

they’ve basically said that Guile is next. I’d be reasonably surprised if he actually makes April, though.

Guile will make it just like Alex did, on the 31st

I dunno, by this time last month they had at least said stuff

I’m confused by their rush to get Guile in along with Nash. Do the people really demand that many Sonic Booms?

look at a calendar

Oh shit, my secret . . . minus the impressive combos. It is always daunting thinking about how after 20 years of playing fightman games, I’m still shit at the important parts of playing fightman games, which is to say, the parts where the fact that I am actually playing against another human being matter. Liking 2/3 as it lets me work on my glacial adaptation. Still pretty much always err on the side of being conservative because maaaaan, fuck wake up just do it.[quote=“geist, post:217, topic:1011”]

If you want the numbers, this is pretty nice. Like most, don’t have a lot of experience against fang, but 3 frame jabs tend to make him sad, as the stuff he opens up with either pushes really far away or is only +1.

Hahahaha. The replacement amazon sent is also a fake! Wooooww. Amazon will only give my friend a refund now.

The only mention of this happening on neoGAF is my tweet which is weird.

There is one review on amazon mentioning this.

So ends the saga of how I almost owned street fighter V.

I like that feeling where you log in after you haven’t played in a while and because you retain nothing after even a day off, you promptly lose 500 lp without winning a match. and while you’re doing this the game matches you up with people with 3500-5000 lp even though you’re down to 1500. and then most of those matches lag. way to make sure I’m putting this game down for another week, capcom. I mean I seriously got matched with the same 3200 lp Ryu player 5 times in a row.

Very curious to see what Guile’s new move is like in practice. The description sounds like a cross between Ky’s grinders and Millia’s disc, which could be a lot of fun.

Huh, so Guile’s (non-ex) flash kicks aren’t invincible, but they are CC-able? Das weird.

stop playing ranked dumbo

Guile having Fatal Fury crouch walking is promising.

airborne on frame one, so it’s unthrowable at least

still kinda weird though, lol
