i feel like there should be a thread for the new star wars game coming out that is not in cinephile, even though i haven’t decided if i’m going to get it or not
here’s a question to get us started
will this be the Good kind of AAA game (very expensive looking, good actors, delicious fast food versions of mechanics taken from more interesting games) or the Bad kind of AAA game (Uncharted’s Creed: Revenge of the context sensitive action buttons, follow the blinking light to hoover up Objectives and gain Skill Points)
its hard to say
some of the character designs are really great and look like digital muppets, others are … bad. i’m on the fence tbh!
Spider Man was also constantly threatening to be that little bit more flattering and tedious that would’ve edged it into “depressing expensive videogame experience” so I don’t know that I trust that as a model
I just mean like what you or anyone else expecting it to be then that’s what it will end up being. If what you’ve seen so far sounds good to you then it’ll be good, if you’re not fully convinced you won’t be when you finally play it, etc.
All we really seem to know about it is that it’s Star Wars and then “a little bit like” -insert laundry list of other popular games-.
I think I’ll like it because I like what I’ve seen of it so far even if the only “new” thing it’s doing is telling another Star Wars story stuck in-between the bigger more important Star Wars stories. I don’t think it’s going to surprise anyone other than by maybe being longer than everyone is expecting. For some reason everyone thinks it’s going to be a 5 hour game because it’s single player and not open world but like there lots of single player non open world games that you can spend dozens of hours on if that’s your thing.
Is the default inverted then? I was recently surprised when booting up Blood (the build engine DOS fps) when I inverted the controls before playing and they were then non-inverted. I had forgotten that back in the day the default was flight sim controls. I’m not sure when the switch occurred though.
