It’s the time again, with birds in the flowers, bees in the air, pollen on the cars. It is time to look around at the video games around you and go “I should play some of these.” Time to list your backlog and what you’re hoping to accomplish in enjoying things you already own.

I forget if I wrote this on SB before, but at the start of the year I looked at my massive list of games I own and haven’t played (currently somewhere in the 700s thanks to massive charity bundles and freebies) and decided I should make a smaller backlog list of games I don’t necessarily need to get to ASAP but that I should keep in mind for when I’m just sitting there with no idea what to play next. I figure I can update it yearly to remove games I got to during said year and replace them with new additions.
Anyways here is the list:
Betrayal At Club Low
Bullet Witch
Can of Wormholes
The Case of the Golden Idol
Cocoon
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut
Doom
Extreme Evolution: Drive to Divinity (BEAT)
Gorogoa
Hyper Light drifter
Judero
Kentucky Route Zero
La Mulana
Lumote: The Mastermote Chronicles
The Messenger
Nine Sols
Opus Magnum
Ori and the Blind Forest
Papers, Please
Patrick’s Parabox
Pentiment
Quantum Break
Radiant Silvergun
Return of the Obra Dinn
Slime-San
SOLAS 128
Soul Axiom Rebooted
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Sunset Overdrive
Supraland
Thief Gold
Unavowed
Undertale
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
Ys Seven
ZeroRanger
Deathloop
God of War Ragnarök
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Castlevania: Bloodlines
Contra: Hard Corps
Owlboy (BEAT)
Shovel Knight
Titanfall 2
Parasite Eve
Dino Crisis 2
BYE-BYE BOXBOY!
Nightshade
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
So only two games down so far but I played Infinifactory instead of Opus Magnum, am currently playing Void Stranger instead of ZeroRanger so I can live with that.
That’s pretty much it, gonna start that once I finish DS3.
I’ve finally started slowly selling off some of the old games I have that I don’t like though, so I guess that’s sort of a cleaning. It’s probably gonna take years so not just a spring thing. ^D ^
Batsugun is always a good choice, but why not play it on MiSTer (arcade core available, Saturn version too) with less input lag? The S Tribute port has like 6 frames of input lag or something, and there’s a permanent filter that makes everything kinda blurry. If you have the Boosted version it at least has that arranged soundtrack, and it’s got like… rewind. But is still probably the worst way to play Batsugun
I’m playing SaGa, too: SaGa 2. There’s been a few years since I played the first but I’m slightly inclined to say it’s more charming. Something about the tower being a dungeon feels more satisfying than an encounterless void with ladders.
Because at the height of my depression I bought a physical and haven’t touched it. Folks talk about the bad input lag and I said “I’ll prove it myself!!”
It is currently 900 yen on PSN so I do feel particularly foolish about that one.
And I do in fact have it on the Mister with the Boosted soundtrack. So you know…waves hands.
Short term goal is the elimination of my PS4 backlog, as it has been for a while. I can cheat somewhat now that I have a more modern computer by transferring some of this backlog to other platforms where I have access to them. Thank you Epic Games freebies for duplicating a bunch of my PS4 library.
Chances are good I will play few of these games to completion.
Working on a bingo board again this year, but was more conscious about the length of games I was putting on there this time so it wasn’t impossible to get a bingo. Current status is:
My plans have been pretty frustrated by the recent tendinitis. May just have to take a break from playing altogether for a while
Currently playing:
The Sun Shines Over Us (technically haven’t really been engaging with this but might return to it since I can just autoplay dialogue it and watch it while my hands rest)
Cursed Mountain (when I play it, it’s the game I enjoy the most at the moment)
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Backlog:
Fatal Fury City of the Wolves
Marvel vs Capcom fighting collection
Slowly Fighter
Kamiwaza: Way of the Thief
Uru
Myst V
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Suikoden 1 & 2 HD remaster
Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles (2+3)
Tales of Berseria (Veteran has been on here for nearly a decade)
I am currently playing Morrowind and Metaphor, and reading Against the Day. I have a playthrough of the Riven remake slated for the hot seasons of the year, so that is impending. But the others are just games I want to get to, but which may elude me for the rest of the year since I already have some big ones on my plate as is.
Yakuza kiwami 2
Fuga 2(-ga)
Disaster report 4
Momotarou dentetsu - the new english one, to play against the CPU one time & learn enough to fumble through a game of it with other people someday.
Crimson dragon - it was on sale for 3 dollars.
The legend of the zelda: the breath of the wild - I was going to skip this for TOTK but changed my mind.
Castlevania aria of sorrow
Sakura taisen 2 - I’m not too happy about it I just gotta get in there & do my duty for segata sanshiro.
