it only makes me appreciate the game more tbh
I finished story mode in Origins with all the gems. Itās just the same games stitched together without character select.
Weāve talked about how rough Sonic 2ās boss is with Knuckles, but Sonic & Knucklesā Giant Eggman Robo with Sonic and Tails is the real deal. Tails loves to hit the emerald just before Sonic, making the weak point intangible and sending Sonic into the abyss. I ended up using my pinky on a second controller to keep the little bugger out of the way.
Couple of takes:
- Sonic 2 is still the best!
- Tails is kinda Sonicās dog in these games? I got a puppy recently. Heās cute, heās furry, he follows us around, he occasionally surprises us by doing something useful, but mostly he likes to get in the way or get himself hurt before bouncing right back. And I still prefer having him around despite the hassle.
The unfinished build of Sonic and the Moon Facility has been released.
This game was CANCELLED and this is a release of an unfinished development build of the game. It is released to honor all the hard work from the people who helped me work on it.
Sonic and The Moon Facility is a 2D Sonic fangame that follows Sonic and Tails on an adventure to discover the secrets of a mysteriously reactivated research facility.
This build includes all the levels in the game, however only SONIC can complete the main campaign of the game. Debug tools will unlock once you beat the game, or if you know how to access them already.
If youāre interested, you can take a look inside the development folder here: Moon Facility Development Folder - Google Drive
Iāts admittedly a little embarrassing for me to release something in a state like this, but life demands more from me now! I canāt keep worrying about this game anymore.
Regardless of itās state, I hope you like it! And hope you can at least enjoy the silliness that comes from playing an unfinished project (But also, I understand it might be disappointing to some and Iām very sorry).
Iām releasing the game like this to honor everyone that helped me along the way and to not let their hard work go in vain. Itād be a shame if all the amazing work my friends put into this went unseen.
Specifically, Iād like to thank all the musicians who I worked with. My games wouldnāt have been the same without your talents and Iām forever grateful to have had you along for the ride.
And of course, thank you to everyone who followed the development of Sonic and the Moon Facility. It makes me really happy that so many people resonated with it and my previous game, you have no idea how much it means to me.
Anyways, this is it for me and fan games. But I still love making video games! Youāll hear more from me soon enough, but for now, thank you for reading and hope you look forward to whatever we make next!
Based off the sprite this was gonna be a sequel to Fallen Star?
Same dev but I donāt think they said it was a sequel.
for once sonic fans are too slow because i need those lap 3 soccer chant remixes of the songs from crossworlds up on youtube already
i got obsessed with trying to A rank Emerald Coast and finally just did after dozens of attempts lol
im mostly happy cuz i stumbled on the shortcuts i used to do it by myself, just while messing around with the spindash physics
i also A ranked every mission in City Escape!!
AAAAA!!!
you should learn the SA2 all emblems speedrun
note: this is a 20+ hour speedrun
And now you know
i started playing shadow and it kinda owns?? the music all fucking whips ass. however when i hit A to start and the confirm noise was a fucking gunshot.wav i had to put my steamduck down laughing so hard i nearly dropped it
ALSO⦠there was a flash sonic steam sale⦠so i own colors and lost world and goddamn FRONTIERS now heheh. and i got a crack of the OG version of generations my personal sonic mania continues
i wish i could get '06 and unleashed working on my duck, the former barely emulates even on windows let alone thru wine and i cant seem to get a working iso of the latter for PS3 (i dont wanna play the halfassed wii/PS2 version). it might just be im dumb tho if anyone knows how to wrangle RPCS3ā¦
iāve heard the wii/ps2 version is better
ive heard kinda mixed things tbh! just from seeing footage i dont like that the hub levels are these static dialogue menus like a VN/Persona game. people have also hyped up the daytime levels but hyped down the werehog bits, which are i guess more frequent on ps2/wii
tbh iād be willing to play it just to sate my curiosity about the game/story and try to get to the ps3 version later. ykw fuckit thats what i shall do
It is with a heavy heart I tell you
SONIC GALACTIC IS INCREDIBLE
It has nothing to do with Saturn aesthetics and a long tutorial to start with (with a mechanic that did need explaining.) But once I was in the game myself and everyone in the discord was losing our minds. GOOD SONIC LEVEL DESIGN? Great music. Simple but identifable themes. Fun level gimmicks. FIVE GOOD BOSSES? 2 extremely fun bonus stage modes! I was laughing and having a great time.
Iāll be over the moon if they finish but as is some of the best 2D Sonic that has ever been made. @ronk play this one.
Also played the Moon Facility alpha. Wasā¦okay. Confusing themed levels (combining an ice level and sewer level is a clear cry for help.) it was a cancelled fan project so complaining seems mean spirited.
Galactic is like, I play almost every single one of these that crosses my eyes and it is very very good.
Which one was Sonic Galactic again? I could look it up but I also wanna hear more about it from Rudie

They say it was Saturn inspired but if anything itās closest of the time comparison is Mega Man 8 (not my observation but dead on.) Nothing marks it as a Saturn game. It is closer to a 2D PS1 game. Really just modern Sonic Fan Game is the aesthetic.
Iāve been thinking about it all day and want to play through it again. It does make a bad impression in the first 5 minutes but it really won me over.
The bonus cameltry mode (sign post 50 rings) is really really fun. Iād take a whole game of that honestly.
The big ring mode is also great.
That it has 5 fun Sonic Bosses is mindblowing. and like good Sonic level design. I say in this thread a lot making good Sonic levels is the hardest thing in video games. This has levels that go 8-10 minutes and I didnāt care! I didnāt once say āthis is going long.ā That I forgot about being a jerk and just had a good time and was laughing. That canāt be beat, not by me!
The other What If Sonic Was Made For The Saturn (i think I posted about it in this thread? Name forgotten) is not very good but has this incredible super-scaler stuff right at the end that makes you wonder why you just played bad Sonic for 30 minutes and not this for 10. I do recommend that one to you as a Sega Super-Scaler fan.
Galactic is perfect as is, but if we got a full game out of it Iād scream. It is of such high quality I canāt figure out why they wasted the talent on a fan-game for free. There is plenty of precedent of using Original The Character (which this game has two) and making a commercial work (Spark The Electric Jester, Freedom Planet.)
What Galactic gets right (outside of everything) is in all these other games the environments are really really busy. Galactic has simpler themes and it pays off. It has a completely underwater level and it doesnāt suck!
