I beat it and it’s very cute and it is definitely from a character and narrative standpoint the best use of the extended Sonic cast in any game that SEGA has released. It’s a baby Phoenix Wright game with way too much awkward platforming in it, but it’s actually really solid procedural story and fun to solve. Like a little side arc of the comic almost.

Wait did we talk about origins plus here or in another thread? Is there anyone who would drop everything to play a Game Gear Sonic title over a console one?
As a kid, I think I went to bat for Triple Trouble but I dunno if I’d choose it over Sonic & Knuckles though
I’ve tried really hard to get into the Game Gear games and give them their due. I always get extremely bored with them. I’ve never had any love for the GG/C64 sound chip either.
Releasing them a year later on the as far as I know still kind of broken Sonic Origins is an lol we all saw coming.
As I said slightly upthread Triple Trouble 16bit was fine for a few afternoons.

from what i hear, weird physics that make the games play wrong in a bunch of ways. it turns out that the mega drive sonics were very precisly designed all along!
no, but i did ask for a game gear for xmas as a kid just because i wanted to play sonic chaos. it was a whole sonic game that wasn’t on mega drive PLUS you could play as tails and actually fly!
(i don’t know why i wanted a game gear to play it on rather than a master system though)
also, the sonic drift games have really nice pixel art in their backgrounds.

all three paths are playable in the project 06 fangame now. it’s still wild how six years ago this initially started as a random sonic fan who couldn’t get a copy of sonic 06 trying to remake it based on vids and screenshots and accidentally making it better and at this point it’s “almost” a full pc port
