I’m adding both to my cart right now on Fanatical ![]()
take it with a grain of salt with “this is my hole it was made for me” etched into it, like, i’m delighted by even controversial choices like reusing the cyberspace stage layouts because the aesthetic result is uncanny. every stage is a memory puzzle for no reward but feeling weird
the old sb wiki called sonic adventure (maybe SA2?) “a good licensed anime game.” this is the best licensed anime game ever made mashed up with the parts of forza horizon where no one is speaking and distinctly cavia minigames
No, everything you are saying makes this sound like it’s extremely up my alley. Also, it’s almost finished downloading ![]()
final boss spoiler need to know if sonic team were aware that the game would release on the same day as a blood moon eclipse, please, IGN,
some sacrifices have to be made if you’re an idiot like me and somehow dumped a thousand dollars into your computer over a year so you can play hugely demanding games like OW2 and Uma Musume at the highest levels of fidelity
(currently showing up as unsupported on the Deck
)
Just fwiw it’s running for me on deck (though i was only able to put in 20 min or so) without any big issues as long as you crank settings down to low.
oh word? Steam was reporting it as unsupported, which I assumed was the case because of Denuvo
I guess a caveat is i was in offline mode so not sure if it mattered that it didn’t get to phone home to Denuvo or not.
steam reporting is really loose at this point. half the stuff i use mine for rn is ‘unsupported’.
https://www.protondb.com/app/1237320 some more detailed reporting/settings here. looks like it runs with some visual/shader glitches
yeah, there are flickering textures (that aren’t supposed to) and hitches. the hitches are a bother when you’re in the middle of an obstacle section
hmmmm interesting
i guess i’m gonna get this game but won’t be able to play for a few days at least!! i’m a busy b**ch lately lol
Love running around and exploring, just moving around is already a pleasure in itself (fwiw, reminding me of Nier Automata where it was exactly the same thing, just navigating the given space in whichever way you feel most comfortable with), i.e in Sonic Park:
grinding rails, bouncing off platforms/walls/bumpers, auto jumps or boooosting around and running around at the speed of sound, got places to go gotta follow my rainb—
yeeeesh, get’s an OK’ish grade, not that I enjoy doing nothing in Sonic Land … nope, never, really not at all! ![]()
The newest 3D Sonic game I’ve played up to this point is Heroes (lol). Uhh traversal here feels really good. The music is great. The stage challenges are great. Dare I say it… This is good! At least so far.
i remember everyone being excited when sonic adventure’s mystic ruins had you on a cliff overlooking a jungle with a pyramid in the middle of it, and you could jump off of the cliff and run to the pyramid.
sonic frontiers is that feeling magnified, and constant! you see a huge tower in the distance, you run to it, and then it’s a huge monster you can fight! amazing!
the first island has a few of those, and there’s this big flying thing with a glowing purple ribbon trailing behind it, that’s also a big enemy, though i haven’t figured out how to fight it yet.
i was sceptical about giving sonic an attack button, but it does work well and feel good, so that’s fine.
i’ve only played about an hour and i feel like i’ve barely gotten into the game. i haven’t even met big yet!
really glad Sega stepped up and made Gravity Rush 3 because Sony was too afraid to
Kat looks different though
i can’t believe no-one’s mentioned the shepherding minigame
I just played like an hour and wow, I love this! The vibe is right. Love the contrast between the melancholy overworld and the big, fast, loud cyberspace levels. Those first few levels have some great music! Huge blue skies energy.
I loved this level and its euro ravey music:
Like that song is way more reminiscent of dreamcast-era sega music than I ever could have reasonably expected. And the next level had a drum and bass track! Hell yeah, this really is the true spiritual successor to Sonic Adventure 1.
I also love that if you try to do some stupid shit, just jumping into mountain faces repeatedly to try and brute force your way up, Sonic starts laughing at you.
I can’t figure out which cyberspace level it was now, but I was getting really into its dnb music. Right after the beat kicked in, I got really excited when I heard what sounded like a Sonic R style r&b vocalist winding up, but then I realized that was actually Sonic wailing to his death because I fell off a rail.
