So I'm Hosting A Movie, On Twitch, Like In A Few Hours

BTW/FYI…

K, tomorrow night is the final stretch of my cinematic survey of NYC, over at Wonderville, and it includes five movies that… if I don’t say so myself… are all must-sees.

First is a pioneering Afrofuturist work is the perfect combination of blaxploitation cinema and, believe it or not, E.T…

Next is a movie that’s near and dear to everyone at Wonderville, this is quite simply the definitive document of Brooklyn’s DIY music scene (basically, Wonderville is an extension of Death By Audio Arcade, which was born from the ashes of the Brooklyn’s DIY music venue Death By Audio, which was a victim of Vice Media, hence why every NYC reporter refuses to touch it, less they go on record saying anything negative of Vice)…

The perfect chaser to last week’s The Foreigner is this other No Wave flick; whereas the former serves as a time capsule of late 70s NYC, its portrait of early 80s is a sight to behold. As is the plot, which one reviewer summed up best with “Aliens crash land on Earth and attach themselves to a model’s (head, then proceed to feed on a drug which can only be created by killing their victims at the point of orgasm with their host.”

The perfect counterpoint to Liquid Sky is Lizzie Borden’s unabashedly feminist film that again feels like a documentary, but of an alternate reality in which the United States is a socialist democracy. Alas racial and gender inequity very much persists, hence why a coalition of women must band together to take down this alternate system, in a film that taps into Jean-Luc Godard’s pseudo-science-fiction classic, one that also serves as a “how-to” guide for guerrilla filmmaking…

And finally is another documentary, one that details the recording of the Boredoms’s 77 Boa Drum…

… It all goes down at 2021-09-28T00:00:00Z The evening kicks off at 8PM EST/5PM PST (yup, an hour earlier than normal for WV), at the usual Monday night hangout spot:

Came in to somebody sticking needles into their feet while surrounded by piles of potatoes. I have no idea what is happening.

Oh, and for those curious as to what THE UNCANNY is like…

Tomorrow night is another installment of FORT90 TV, tho some FORT90 FILM CLUB action will take place, like last week (and am just realizing that I totally forgot to mention the screening of Micro Men last Monday; sorry about that).

Anyhow, on tap this time is…

… Tho I made a mistake when timing out the schedule, which was only corrected after the tweet; RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD should go live around 2021-10-12T03:15:00Z (the evening kicks off at 9PM EST as usual)

Nice, the first two Return of the Living Deads are good. Trash is my favorite Linnea Quigley persona – love the goofy wig and make-up. Suicide and Spider were both also in Friday the 13th V.

BTW/FYI, showtime is in just a few! Also, am closing things out with something that has given everyone a splitting headache when showing IRL (hopefully it’s easier to process online)…

Tomorrow night’s another installment of FORT90 TV, the “obligatory Halloween themed broadcast” to be precise, but much like last week, will be showing yet another film that’s appropriate for this particular time of year. Two actually!

The first will perhaps be the most noteworthy; there is no shortage of found footage movies, in which everything is centered upon the final reels of film by documentarians that have ventured into the woods, or inside a catacomb, etc. But what about food footage that is entirely based upon a fake television station’s evening programming block?

And immediately afterwards is a legit cult hit, as well as another horror staple/trope: the horror anthology. And this one features three stories, each starring Karen Black; the most important part is, yes, it’s THAT Karen Black movie with the problematic puppet…

As usual, for Mondays, the broadcast starts at 2021-10-19T01:00:00Z over at https://www.twitch.tv/wondervillenyc

BTW/FYI, I’m starting to run out of horror movies that center upon cats, but I’ve got two more tonight, and both are Stephen King related; first is a classic that everyone knows and loves…

BTW/FYI, the other movie tonight is again Stephen King and it’s the one in which the cats are people…

Completely forgot about this. Twitch isn’t showing everybody I follow when they’re live, and likewise doesn’t like to show games I follow when people are streaming under those categories, so. Twitch is awful.

Yeah, Twitch is a garbage platform, and I wish there was a comparable/superior livestreaming platform, but unfortunately… it’s the best option available, at least for myself.

Hence why I am trying to keep things consistent at least, to avoid getting lost in the shuffle: on Mondays evenings it’s Wonderville’s stream and on Thursday late at night it’s my personal feed (I have something really awesome in store next week. hope you can make it)

K, it’s finally here, the final Monday of the month of October, so naturally I’m going to be showing scary movies, but also content befitting of a Twitch stream belonging to a video game bar. As well as a video game message board.

Up first is a cheesy horror flick about game development that nonetheless hits a few of the finer details on the nose (tho you couldn’t really tell from this trailer)…

Next is a far more recent effort that combines a film nerd’s tribute to Stuart Gordon, Dario Argento, and David Cronenberg, especially the type of body horror seen in Videodrome, plus an exploration of the Polybius myth…

Am not only showing movies that are amusement machine related but amusement park related, and the following is less a good movie than an excellent showcase of one’s no budget special effects skills (but it’s still a fun watch, I swear)…

And finally, time for something completely different; it’s an absolutely brutal horror film that I recommend every single individual in game development watch, ESPECIALLY those who produce any type of 3D engine; the cinematography in this is just bonkers…

Even though tonight’s another broadcast of FORT90 TV, I have several short films on tap, lots of artsy-fartsy content actually. But there’s also this…
