It’s the first FORT90 FILM CLUB of 2024! So why not celebrate by watching movies that take place in 2010, 1999, 2046, and 2010 again. And the first to take place in 2010 is the obligatory obscure anime flick of the line-up…
Next is the obligatory early 90s b-movie about how bad the youth will be at the turn of the century…
Third is the obligatory been waiting forever to show this movie since basically forever, for the perfect occasion, as well as the obligatory this is a legit amazing movie…
And last but not least, was originally going to show 2001, but everyone has seen it to death, and I figured why not highlight the less than perfect yet nonetheless still interesting sequel…
Stream starts at the usual time, 8PM EST, and at the usual destination…
Tonight’s another FORT90 TV, tho I dod have lots of movie-related stuff on tap, tho am I guess I should mostly mention that I’m playing the following, since this is first & foremost a video game message board…
The previous FORT90 FILM CLUB saw a bunch of movies that took place in one particular point in time. So how about a bunch of movies in which something happens all across time? Or in the case of the first flick, a bunch of different things happen all at the same time…
Believe it or not, I limited myself to only one “straightforward” time travel flick for this evening’s block, and that slot is going to…
The third flick sees the long-awaited arrival of Terry Gilliam to the stream (well, a feature length effort of his; I previously showcased a short on FORT90 TV for those may or may not recall)…
Last but not least will be the obligatory “now hold on a sec, this movie is not as bad you might have heard or think it is” selection, which I also need to play cuz it ties to a previously showcased movie (and also part 2 of “LOST IN TIME”)…
Stream starts at the usual time, 8PM EST, and at the usual destination…
It’s the last Monday of the month, a night usually reserved for OPEN VCR NIGHT at WondervilleIRL, but because it’s now going to a bi-monthly schedule, tonight sees a sooner than originally scheduled continuation of my survey of movies that deals with time… tho in honor of aforementioned staple is the first Star Trek flick that my parents rented on VHS back in the (and me thinks many others could say the same as well)…
Last time we saw a tale of time bending that was directed by Rian Johnson, who was assisted by Shane Carruth, the filmmaker whose work we’re watching this time…
When it comes to movies that deals with shifting time, there are few that are so nonsensical as well as flat out insane, yet still fun to watch as (BTW/FYI: I will be showing the Director’s Cut, with the especially batshit original ending)…
And cuz the last movie of the night is an absolute must-watch, but also includes nudity that has the potential to take down the Wonderville Twitch account, am going to ask everyone to “turn the channel” for…
Stream starts at the usual time, 8PM EST, and at the usual destination…
BTW/FYI, tonight’s another FORT90 TV, tho it’s also FORT90 FILM CLUB adjacent, kinda/sorta, since I’m highlighting select entries from the totally official Taco Bell Film Festival…
Stream starts at the usual time, 8PM EST, and at the usual destination…
Tonight’s Wonderville X FORT90 FILM CLUB will be my last stream for a short while, since I’ll be out of town next week (then the one after that is OPEN VCR NIGHT). But before heading off to Tokyo, how about some films that take place in… Los Angeles? And kicking things off is…
And no survey of movies that take place in the City of Angels is complete at least one hard-boiled detective yearn, but not just any…
Third up is perhaps the most controversial selection, an exploration of white male fragility that has become even more fascinating, as well as even more pertinent (tho maybe not in the way its advocates might want to believe) over the past 30+ years…
Last but not least, is your token SOV piece of trash, as well as the obligatory tonal whiplash when compared with the movie that’s kicking the evening off…
Stream starts at the usual time, 8PM EST, and at the usual destination…
It’s the first FORT90 FILM CLUB stream since coming back from Tokyo! And I’ve got even more movies from Los Angeles? Yup; it’s also maybe the broadcast with the biggest names, behind the camera-wise, and am kicking things off a stone-cold William Friedkin banger…
Next is the (IMHO) long-overdue first appearance of Charles Burnett to the stream, and what better introduction (again IMHO) than…
Third up is the third appearance (technically) of Tim Burton, with (objectively) this best movie (tho also one that may not have aged all that well)…
Last but not least, I tried to avoid the obvious and not showcase the most recent Quentin Tarantino flick, and cuz his third movie is already earmarked for another stream later down the road, am instead playing…
Stream starts at the usual time, 8PM EST, and at the usual destination…
This month’s survey of movies that take an uncomfortably up close & personal look at the justice system, in particular its highly dubious degree of effectiveness. First up is a movie that John Wayne famously described as “the most un-American thing I’ve ever seen in my whole life”…
Next is a legit all-timer when it comes to totally tall yet totally true tales of local bad guys that are actually the good guys…
Third up is another classic, this one from Jim Jarmusch, and a brilliant illustration of the saying “it’s the journey not the destination”, even when said goal is to get the fuck out of prison…
Last but least is another film that takes place in New Orleans, maybe one of the most unexpected sequels of all time, tho Nicolas Cage’s performance is predictably totally batshit insane…
Stream starts at the usual time, 8PM EST, and at the usual destination…
Time once again to swing by (& attempt to survive) cop city with, and am kicking things off with a movie that’s been much forgotten (which I get, cuz ACAB & all, just remember to treat movies that depict cops as heroes for what they are: works of fiction)…
And I hope no one thinks I am phoning it in by replaying something I showed 3 years ago, but I believe the time is ripe for a rewatch, and perhaps you’ll all agree…
Third up is an all-time classic and honestly one of the main motivators behind this month’s survey, one that also helped to cement Chow Yun-fat as “the Robert De Niro of Hong Kong cinema”…
And last but not least, and also speaking of De Niro, is at long last my chance to show my personal fave Scorsese (and maybe no one else’s)…
Stream starts at the usual time, 8PM EST, and at the usual destination…
It’s my birthday & (mostly cuz I totally forgot to secure tickets for tonight’s 25 Years of Mission Hill event) am celebrating with “3 DOAS 4 FORT90’S 47” (all three of Takashi Miike’s Dead or Alive movies for my 47th), including Dead or Alive 1…
Dead or Alive 2: Birds…
And Dead or Alive: Final…
Stream starts at 11:30PM-ish EST, over at the alt account…
It’s rather apropos that during the same month in which the FORT90 FILM CLUB’s focus is knowing the rules of the game is also when there’s gonna be some ch-ch-ch-ch-changes re: how I show movies via Twitch! Tune in to know what the hell I’m talking about.
Anyhow, am kicking off my look at winners & losers with one of the all-timers when it comes to martial arts…
Next is tied with Sonatine as my all-time fave Beat Takeshi movie…
Third up is the obligatory “pick me up” flick, and perhaps the closest in terms of the original spirit of this month’s survey, that being “sports” movies…
And last but not least also happens to be another beloved “old New York” movie of mine…
Stream starts at the usual time, 8PM EST, and at the usual destination (but that’s gonna change; tune in to know what I’m talking about)…
As mentioned last time, there’s gonna be some ch-ch-ch-ch-changes as to how I show movies on Wonderville’s Twitch, in the form of FORT90 FILM CLUB [IN EXILE] Yes, it’s a reference to the Spectacle’s Twitch effort.
Anyhow, last week I kicked things off with the motion picture that made Bruce Lee a household name, so this time it’s the movie that put Stephen Chow on the map (in the US to be precise)…
Also last week, I showed BOILING POINT, a movie that included baseball but didn’t quite center on the game, so filling that same exact spot this time it’s…
Third up to bat is an actual baseball movie, one that happens to be directed by Yoshihiro Nakamura, aka one of the absolute best Japanese filmmakers that you have never heard of…
Afterwards is film by a Japanese filmmaker that you’ve no doubt heard of, Seijun Suzuki, tho kid you not, this might be better than both Branded to Kill and Tokyo Drifter…
Last but not least will be a real test of my live censor bar-wielding skills (which has proven to be a low-key popular part of my movie streams)…
So this is how showing movies is gonna work; at around 7:50-ish PM EST, the Wonderville Twitch will go live as usual. Then around 8, the channel will transport everyone who has tuned in (via the raid function) over to the-former-but-now-the-mainline FORT90 FILM CLUB account…
Once again, it’s time for the FORT90 FILM CLUB [IN EXILE], tho am also taking a break from my live censor bar duties to present some family friendly fare, by digging into the Disney vaults with rare/inaccessible classics (the first film will also be in tribute to DBACat, aka Death By Audio Cat, who recently passed alway)…
Now, The Black Hole is admittedly not inaccessible, yet it is misunderstood, and defiitely superior to 95% of the Star Wars-related content you’ll find on Disney+…
Am also gonna play something that I’ve been meaning to for legit ages, whenever video game-related movies are shown, just never got to it, but since it’s also a Disney production…
Fourth up is another flick you cannot find on Disney+ and is, IMHO, the real stand-out of the line-up…
And last but not least is another film that is neither rare nor inaccessible, but because it’s literally my all-time fave and also by Disney, figured why not show it (again) anyway…
Stream will again be via the alt account, starting around 8PM-ish EST…
It’s tine once again to celebrate the birth of one’s nation, tho my homeland’s birthday is the 4th (plus I also don’t feel like honoring such a dumpster fire) whereas today it’s the 1st, which happens to be the Great White North’s bd, hence why I’m showing…
Another, less obvious Canadian classic is also one that’s very much relevant to all the Gamers out there…
Third up is a bonafide indie darling, one that should also appeal to all the indie rock folk out there…
Last but not least is one of THE most famous SOVs to hail from America’s hat…
My tribute to the Great White North’s contribution continues, with some especially deep(er) cuts this time, kicking things off with a movie starring a Kid in the Hall…
Next, if there’s only a single movie that one can see tonight for whatever reason, then let it be this legit ultra obscure gem that at best is confused with another obscure Sam Raimi flick (with a very similiar title, was released in the same year)…
Third up is yet is another spotlight on the most famous Canadian director no one has heard of, Zale Dalen, this time via his curious one-part Videodrome/two-parts SCTV hybrid…
Fourth up is someone who requires no real introduction, cuz he’s maybe most people reading this’s favorite director to hail from Canada (it’s also to celebrate 5 years of showing movies on the behalf of Wonderville; the first was eXistenZ for anyone curious)…
… Oh, and I also have the racer trash re-edit of The Kids in the Hall’s Brain Candy; stream will again be via the alt account, starting around 8PM-ish EST…
