Share & Talk About Your Music

I compiled several mostly unfinished tracks for an idea of what my second album might feature. I’m extremely happy with the progress I’ve just made in the latter sections of the track that’s featured first here.

Via Tindeck and not Soundcloud because I’d prefer to only share this with a small audience.

hey jerx i’m in two bands! they’re called Passive Smoke and Eadie & the Doodles

Eadie and i are in both bands. the Doodles is like… twee garage pop?

got 2 demos on soundlcoud:
https://soundcloud.com/eadieandthedoodles

we’ve been dragging our feet on recordings for ages but while i was away last month the other band members put together some demo 'EP’s that are more, uh, lofi Casiotone pop? but also gr8 and i love them
https://eadieandthedoodles.bandcamp.com/

Passive Smoke is more feelings-y and just slightly more mathy. we get compared to so many fkn bands. Sleater-Kinney, Galaxie 500, Sonic Youth, Crow, uh. others. we don’t think we sound like any of em, but then we wouldn’t, would we

we put an EP out half a year ago called Inhale? check it out babes. we’re probably ready to record a new one tbh

this youtube user goes to most of our shows and uploads a couple songs from each. the channel’s a decent way to catch up on our little sub-scene in this town? it’s nice i like it

@all_monsters and @The_Blueberry_Hill and any other aussies please listen to this stuff and then get us to play a show with you please ^^ ( @falsedan check it out too for a Taste of Home )

Woh, what is this clamwavecloud guitar? Never wanted to put a guitar to my face so much before.

I am pretty out of touch with music in this town since I noticed my anxiety and my favourite band stopped playing, but I can always at least give you a list of venues to play at (but you have Melbo friends I think? so maybe they can do that better than me). There’s a good one in Brunswick that also has a half-time magic show.

ahah you mean Dane Certificate’s place? that does sound interesting yeah! who was yr fave band?

and yeah the guitar’s unique! dad’s a luthier. the form of the guitar is explicitly open to interpretation, but clam and cloud are the most common guesses

Yep, that’s the one. It has seating though, which is a bit odd. My favourite band is/was Go Genre Everything. Youtube clips don’t do them any justice, unfortunately. Their albums barely do either.

I guess you could play at my house!? Just have to figure out the bathroom situation, as it’s right at the back and I’d be sad if anyone nicked any of the paintings.

I see that guitar as a big pink six-fingered baseball glove.

your bands are cool, wish I could do something to help but I’ve lost my connections with music people since I started being a dad. also I never figured out how to play my songs a second time, so I’m not qualified to play shows.

ah gosh bloob you’re too kind! i think we know a couple ppl over there so a house show is prob not necessary. that said, i love house shows. anyway, thnku ^^

I resumed work on a track that’s meant to sound sorta like mid 90s Falcom

Lead synths are pretty bang on for '90s redbook.

@sufresh is making the beats for The Moon Fields. It’s not very Zelda-y, but that’s the point. We’re trying to figure out where in the middle we have to meet to make something chip hop-y and different.

after listening to a bunch of kiasmos I’m really inspired to make some really roomy, breath-y 4/4 with an emphasis on live performance but I’m a little conflicted as to whether to shoot for a hardware-only approach or to keep messing around with ableton + my microbrute

ableton + my microbrute: things are already configured and I already know how I’ll approach composition and it’ll allow me to really explore the microbrute, but my living situation is currently such that I don’t have enough room to fit everything comfortably

hardware-only: I get to be super improvisational but I don’t have all the hardware I need and hardware costs $$$

not sure what I should do! but obviously musing about it in public will help right

Hey this will not help but did you know that a feller can pick up a used Push for less than 300 dollers.

Thanks!

Here’s the finished piece.

I’m making an instrumental version of ‘ONE TRACK LOVER.’

Oh, and some other works in progress that I haven’t touched for a few months.

Delusion Clamp: SHMUP-like tune that needs a lot of work in the mixing department.

G-Strut: Dunno. I like when the melody comes in but I’m not terribly enthusiastic about it.

Sustuu: Of the three, this is the one I’m most interested in continuing. Intro’s a bit like an IMERUAT track.

I’ve been looking at Pushes! I think my problem is that if I grab a Push, something about me will refuse to use the other stuff I’ve amassed and I’m actually relatively comfortable with my controller setup at the moment (midi fighter 3d, midi fighter twister, komplete audio 6, microbrute) so if I decide to grab an all-in-one solution that will all have to change – especially since I would probably sell at least one of the midi fighters to pay for the Push. That’s just me being stubborn tho

I think I’ve temporarily figured it out – we’re going to ikea today to grab a little extension to the desk I have currently, and someone’s written a mapping for ableton + max for live to turn my midi fighter 3d into a step sequencer, so I think I’m golden! now I need to actually write stuff >_>

uploaded a pretty ambitious track that was never completed to soundcloud

Troops of Aruzagu, a W.I.P. wherein I try to pretend to be H. Sakimoto. I’ve got some of the latter portion finished – just having a tough time bridging the point where this sample ends with it. See you in half a year . . .

I’m taking part in Weeklybeats 2016 this year! It’s basically NaNoWriMo but for music, with one track a week being the goal.

Here’s my first try at house stuff: http://weeklybeats.com/#/spacetown/music/night-lives

I used to do chiptune stuff and I’m trying to get away from it so I may or may not use the entire Weeklybeats thing as a way to develop a live house set or something WE’LL SEE
