i’ll be honest here and say that despite years of having ff as my aesthetic online that i haven’t finished that many and i don’t know if i ever will. my favorite is 12 hands down followed by tactics advance. this is the part where i talk about how great ivalice is and and everyone agrees right?
my first one was vii and if it weren’t for other games it might still be my favorite. i also love final fantasy tactics despite only playing the first hour or two and really wish this shit was on steam so i could finally just complete it. ( not beating tactics is my biggest gamer shame )
i don’t think i can really rank them except to say outside of my favorites that i think vi is the best ff. i played for 15 minutes and made this decision. i’ve also not beaten vi either but that’s because my ps3 died and i had to start over with the gba version.
my obsession with final fantasy stems from being exposed to them young thanks to my older brother but i have been thinking of branching out to dragon quest or something similar for quite awhile. i spent years really, really into xii and vii and have yet to play more despite owning almost every one but v.
i was being a bit cheeky before but i have a love / hate relationship with nomura and probably have since kh2. the ones he’s touched have probably made the most impact on me but i still wanna punch him in the face sometimes because of kh stuff.
It’s not technically Ivalice/FF but I highly recommend you play Vagrant Story and Crimson Shroud as they share much of the core team/setting/concepts/gameplay style while coalescing better than XII.
i have vagrant story actually. i’ve started it but have yet to finish because i’m not used to sitting in front of my tv anymore. it’s fantastic so far and i love how it looks and sounds. there’s a really cool person i twitter who talks about all the ivalice games a lot so i’ve def learned that if i want more of ivalice that i’m gonna have to finish one day!
crimson shroud peaked my interest but i think i may have only played a demo? it’s been awhile now.
i have no strong feelings about anything to do with ff7 except the original cut of advent children which is clearly superior to the director’s cut which is the only one available anymore but i won’t hear any slander about the remake ost
yeah way back when the remake was first announced i said something like “gonna make a very stern post if the jenova theme isn’t really fuckin sick!!!” but it was
whichever version of 7 you play, that’s the best thing about the game
i don’t know what it is but there’s something about it that doesn’t move me in the same way i might just be a dumb nerd very attached to the og game soundtrack. the best version of JENOVA is in advent children btw
