That’s very often the thing with series though. To me it’s really hard to pick a best Zelda because they all have some prominent flaw or omission that disqualifies them from being a clear favourite ahead of the rest. I’m sure I’ll probably feel different when I see the final list though.
speaking for myself i tried not to pick more than one Mario, sonic, dark soul, etc even though i have more than one that qualifies as a favorite just because they’re big serieses and are going to be heavily represented on the list anyway and i wanted it to have more weirdos! Weird and imperfect games are the ones that really matter to me anyway
I think we literally lost regular posters (at least in part) over the intense negativity directed at TLOU1 in the sb1 thread I started so as to stop shitting in the Today’s The Games! thread du jour re: all my irritations.
Just want to say looking into this was kind of neat and am sad this was PAL-only as Sony’s attempt to avoid paying an EU tax. It came with a BASIC interpreter with which you could make games with simple 3d effects calling from libraries it included (youtube of a game (from the looks of it a non-interactive demo) that seems much more complex than the included samples) and is only really useful nowadays as another way to get freemcboot going. I imagine it would be helpful for homebrew though at a glance I don’t think there was much of a scene that developed around the platform as compared to, like, the Wii.
If I had this as a kid I probably would have only tweaked a few numbers on the snake sample game they included, but in retrospect it would have been neat to sort of get a glimpse of what it must have been like to be a nerdy kid getting into programming in the ZX Spectrum/Commodore “home computing” era.
If only I had known about my new favorite game, Tail of the Sun, one day sooner, so that I could have included it on my list. This bumps Puyo Puyo Tsu off of my top 3 games list, making it Tail of the Sun, Earthbound, and Spelunky.
I was only speculating about Everybody Votes’s secure position because of the batshit wild flurry of support it received and how it’s probably gonna beat out Super Mario Bros. 3
