oi i’m gonna tally up the votes now since jellicle’s computer is on the fritz. pencils down
ok here’s the top 128 126; for all the ones that got 1 vote please consult the chart. i’ve appended an asterisk to any films where i didn’t have enough detail to say for sure which one you all meant (though i’m confident i picked the right one in all cases). i also collated a letterboxd list, since i was going through to add links anyway

bless youse
look i wasn’t too far off
full disclosure, i used my privileged position to erase my nomination for Honeyland so i could get Three Colours Blue on the top 128, and to ensure it was 128 and not 127. would still highly recommend that alongside Midnight Family if you want to watch a documentary with all the storytelling finesse of a scripted film (my film mate curates a documentary festival every year and i have learned the immense power that comes from the position of editor, being the last set of hands on something before it’s released (see also Three Colours Blue on this list))
A Touch of Zen and Touch of Zen (1971) are the same movie I think
oh shit thanks for the save
Damn, what a list! Look at that. I thought Alien was going to win.
Having an easy top 4 and top 9 rather than 5 and 10 seems very SB as well. Nice.
kind of mad none of us nominated Possession now i’ve gone over it a few times. good list otherwise though
I love that the Michael Mann film highest up there is Blackhat
ever since i saw Under The Skin in a theater with someone else who didn’t seem to like it at all i figured that i was alone in liking that movie that much. so pretty surprised (but happy) to see it get 6 votes. also i like Stalker but it’s a boilerplate choice to me and i don’t like it as much as Mirror or Andrei Rublev. still def would prefer it at the top over a lot of other movies though.
nobody voted for any of my aggressively ethnic black comedies
surprised phenomena didn’t get in tbh
also there’s only one movie called the wicker man
I thought about Putney Swope for a good long time.
i love that there are multiple godzilla movies, multiple martial arts movies, marie antoinette, fire walk with me, dream warriors, and all kinds of stuff that orthodox opinion-makers have always sneered at on this list
A Serious Man made it on the 2 votes list at least
I hate seeing this sorted by quantity of votes tbh
the letterboxd list is good because I don’t have to see that
Cant believe personal shopper didnt make it.
That bell making scene forever
yeah this is a funny list system, i made most of my picks specifically because they weren’t on anyone’s lists lol
like i agree and i’m gutted the Handmaiden didn’t place but also there were 387 films nominated and i was already up til 2 doing the 2-votes lol
I think it makes sense to organize it this way. If you just want to see all the titles you can just read the thread.
