These guys are hyping up the narrative component like players are going to be weeping over the follies of man as they do a sick drift boost. The main villain is played by fucking Troy Baker who is a talking head about 7 minutes in. He ‘leaned forward’ when he saw the character designs. He also claims, bizarrely, he never played a villain before? They’re doing the Tekken thing of having each character speak their native language but also putting in Star Trek universal translator to explain this. Polygon Pictures are making the cutscenes.
I’m obsessed with this stupid racing game. I do this every year, I get fixated on some B-tier title hoping to relive some PS2 magic and get underwhelmed and disappointed every time. I can’t wait.
Screaming hot take, this looks like someone loved Split Second, and i am glad to witness someone trying to capture some of that feeling, and don’t even care if they fall a bit short in the end (it’s Milestone, so yeeeeeahhh let’s see)
Immaculate PS2 era vibes, just hoping they can keep it together and deliver an arcade racer that fills a niche that’s been dormant… sceptical, but want this to succeed!
Finally had some time to check out some gameplay footage (while the devs with their wonderful italian accént explain some mechanics to us) and really feels like an arcade racer, just hope that the OST lives up to the team reveals and you get hilarious dubstep, phat beatz or hypergenki-electro-pop tracks when driving… one can dream, right…
