Scorsese doubles down

batman v superman is one of those movies that could potentially be good but its still a zack snyder joint so the entire thing is weird masturbatory fascism that drags out way too long (the directors cut is like 3 hours long lmfao) and can’t fucking get over itself long enough to actually show you anything interesting. also there’s like not even a single establishing shot in the entire movie which was really bizarre to notice and its edited like complete dogshit. i will give the ayn rand baby man credit for having more of a vision than any of the marvel movies and an actually distinctive filmmaking style though. my dad made me see it in theaters with him and had more fun laughing at me rolling my eyes every time something edgy happened or cokehead lex luthor was on screen

Zack Snyder is probably one of the few true auteur directors of the mainstream American cinema in the 21st century and I guess that’s pretty fitting

the other true auteur is Kevin Feige, so, y’know, welp

zack snyder is really the filmmaker america deserves

i got into a fistfight with a film student at a party in 2015 for saying that paul w.s. anderson is an auteur. i kicked his fucking ass and stole his microwave on my way out

I dropped out of my film program in 2003 but I sometimes think about how dumb we all were and want to go yell at myself and my classmates

before you get into a fist fight with anyone, ask yourself whether you should really go back and read foundational texts in french film criticism

im going to start my own gang of film degenerates like cecil b. demented off the founding principle that steven seagal was the lsst true hollywood rebel for forcing warner bros to fund his insane passion project about saving the environment through blowing shit up which he directed and produced

The rock should do a scorpion king reboot

i’m going to watch a madea film now

i watched “madea goes to jail” with a friend in 2009 or whatever and it was such an incredibly misleading title. idk if all tyler perry movies are a cameron mitchell situation where hes barely in them but it was incredibly bizarre

“madea goes to jail with a friend in 2009 or whatever” seems like the kind of title that can’t really say anything actually ABOUT the movie tbh

I watched both of the Halloween ones back in January and all I remember is Tito Ortiz plays a responsible, concerned, and also hot dad. He doesn’t want the children to have Halloween sex.

That House of Payne show was amazing cuz it seemed like half the show was scripted and the rest was just the fat old dad improvising goofy expressions and exasperations for minutes on end. I kinda loved it.

I still contend that the trailer for Man of Steel is a trailer for a good movie.

Can you imagine if he got to try this again and this time it’s 3D 4K 120fps?

Will always respect “Boo! A Madea Halloween” for literally being a fake Madea movie from Chris Rock’s Top Five that Tyler Perry just decided to make real. I mean it’s like if they just made one of the Ernest movies from The Simpsons real just an incredible flex.
