2016âs event[0] integrates a now-primitive chatbot as a derelict space stationâs AI. Player needs to interact with it to pull out history and puzzle functions. Its success is entirely due to framing the game around its limitations: the AI is far from omniscient, itâs already malfunctioning as the station falls apart, and it has limited ability to help the player. It makes it very clearly an interaction with a tool that has personable characteristics rather than feeling like a character - despite the AI and gameâs shared interest in presenting it as something more.
yea i think the limitations are what would make it interestingâlike a kind of updated version of having to figure out what the hell youâre supposed to do with the âinformationâ you get from poorly translated NPC dialogue in old rpgs
Exactly. Youâll go through a cycle of trying to word a prompt around a noun it understands and after the tenth âI donât understand thatâ, it turns around and asks you to tell it why you decided to visit. If you play along, itâs a bit like the writing prompt games. It doesnât feel like writing into the void because thereâs a token of recognition passing back from the machine.

Ryu ga Gotoku Studios tokusatsu game. Itâs the perfect match!
reboot of guerilla war thats like warriors orochi so you can play as like anybody from patty hearst to fusako shigenobu
now that I donât work for a terrible AAA FPS game studio I can actually come up with ideas and no longer have to run them by legal.
A game I want to make: A doom WAD set in a Elon Musk run mars colony. Elon Musk has stated that itâs his goal to âDie on Marsâ. Doom is a game set on mars, with a Mars like texture pallet. âGenetic Experimentsâ and âArmed up cultistsâ fit within the Musk ethos. Itâs almost too perfect an idea. I wouldnât reveal that itâs based around Elon until maybe the start of the 3rd act. You know, System Shock style. I could even do some basic MetroidVania style exploration stuff. Etc.
I was just reading about this new Mars Attacks card set thatâs about Elon Musk conquering MarsâŚI canât tell if itâs like a pro musk thing or not. Gut reaction is itâs just one of those things that wants to treat him as an epic based meme lord without really thinking about anything?
batman outfoxies
WNBA Jam (just a hack would be fine tbh)
falling down a well simulator: you fall into a series of increasingly deeper wells and just explore what is underneath them while townfolk shout support from above
this only really works if there are secret caves and passageways under the well like in many rpgs, otherwise each level is just a tiny damp hole and the cries from the townfolk above reduced to echoing noise
go on
seems like maybe my game-idea was made???

This game is a different game than what it appears to be and I think itâs not very good. Itâs a tile-placement game built around limited energy but built around punishing the player for not intuiting the designed sequence of pre built sections, rather than understanding rule consequences. Itâs also about as subtle as a PSA. That is to say, it doesnât use fiction to invest personal meaning into what it wants to say; in this way it misuses fiction the way that ideological art usually does. In that case my preference is that a work more interested in essaying be more grounded in reality.
Itâs a neat concept, though
