I have a prototype of this somewhere.
It was called āA Rosy Cerebrum Diskā.
Pac-men power couple Edition
2 pac-men are controlled simultaneously. Instead of lives there is a strike count. No power pellets, you eat ghosts by crossing over them from different directions. If one pac-man dies, the other slowly begins to decelerate. The dead pac-man can return to the maze from the ghost house as a ghost, but it can only quickly push pac-man or a ghost before it disintegrates and has to return to the ghost house. There are also specials walls in the maze that the ghosts can move through.
A game where you play as a character who would normally be an NPC, and you kill the main character of the narrative halfway through the story, and the world starts falling apart around you because the narrative canāt move forward in the way it was supposed to. This is never made explicit though - things just start getting really weird and nothing really makes sense, and the game ends in an extremely unsatisfying way.
honestly i think this might just be Hotline Miami except they take it a step further by letting you play the alternate reality where motorcycle guy wins the battle and then giving you a deeply unsatisfying second ending. I just kinda wish the second ending wasnāt āyouāre a bad person for playing this game yoā
I think this is uh Lennaās Inception too, more or less.
a crime solving game modeled after shows like law & order, and all the cases are procedurally generated⦠a procedural procedural
Primordial Toad: Mushroom Identifier
Somewhere in World 2 of smb3 there is a shady oasis below an empty block. You are a tiny, weak, lightweight, mycological creature. You can jump your own base height, lift a semisolid grain of sand, and pop a bubble at your base max fall speed. Mushrooms have granular effects on your stats, but also have random colors and behaviors.
The beetles and flowers have a symbiotic relationship. The empty block is the end game dungeon.
jet set radio meets dark souls:
a game that has pseudo-online features where you leave notes for other players, but they all have to be in the form of environmental storytelling graffiti
sometimes i think iād get more into a JRPG where the atmosphere of the home town is dour, dysfunctional and deranged, and the outside world in general has more comfort to offer
Want to make a low effort five panel dance game called Five Panel Frenzy
maybe this should be a feature in the official game of the hit movie A Quiet Place
What is the
WEAKNESS
This looks like one of those āin-worldā exposition scrawlings you find in pretty much every AAA thriller these days (L4D safe houses etc.)
Iām just imagining the white board marking squeaking as they write WEAKNESS.
what is the squeekness
Metroid: Other Musou
Zodiac sumo
Yawing, pitching, rolling. Abstracts quickly striking poses. Finding your place on the calendar.
sometimes try to imagine a 3D game in which all three dimensions are distinctly meaningful from a mechanical perspective. in many 2D genres like platformer/fighting/artillery the dimensions canāt be interchanged because the force of gravity only acts on the vertical coordinate. so for 3D iām thinking maybe you could have a central mechanic that interacts with East-West day/night cycles, North-South magnetic fields, or even tidal forces
New DooM clone. Limited or no free look, but no auto aim either, aiming reticule has a window span it can move freely in. Lateral map design with some non-Euclidean geometry.
Pinball where the ball is a water dragon roe trying to reach the peak of the mountain. Graphed like a bipyramid where the lower end is a hub.
outrun endless runner
i guess 15 stage continuous mode from outrun 2 is kind of like this, but it has an end
