Thanks for sharing these words, just reading about what makes a game for someone will have an influence on someone out there, they’ll try em out and stick with it — and the internet will not be as bad as MGS postulates, i.e. you have fulfilled the role of virtual postman in the virtual desuu stranding:

Rudie this was a wonderful list of games I’ve mostly never played and never will and I was delighted by some of the inclusions where we’ve got some overlap in the games we like. A great read, cheers

hell of a list. i will always value my contributions to its creation: watching rudie play these games and saying things like, “this game rules,” “this game owns,” “this game kicks ass,” “i’ve never played a kingdoms hearts game,” and that five second period of time people wondered if i was some sort of savant that could immediately extrapolate that a kanji-filled title rudie could only half-read was aggressors of dark combat on the neo-geo (i looked it up).

God WordPress makes this harder than it should be. Also our probably shittily cobbled together version of it done by two dudes who are not web developers probably doesn’t help.
The awkward pause as me and Rudie both sat there trying to think if we could tell you to play 3, because we couldn’t possibly advise anyone play all that other bullshit before it.

That was a fun list to read through. Several of the games are ones that might not make my list but that definitely deserve to be on someone’s.
I know this TV. I see it every day.
The part about Challenger got me thinking about other games that change drastically between levels and might as well be different games.
La-Mulana 2 is good, by the way. I recommend it. You can even play it somewhat blind, unlike the first one.

there’s one friend of mine who doesn’t really play videogames but is still obsessed with Videoball ever since we started playing it years ago. now he’s a father and busy but still brings it up, it lives on my xbox just for this whenever we can get a chance

I still have and constantly consult the EGM #100 Top 100 and have been trying to make something at the same level for years and feel like A. i finally did it B. I did it. I think I’ll release something next month of the 50 games that didn’t make it.
It’s been occupying my thoughts for months and now it is out and I just want to talk about it with all my friends and I’m so happy that everyone that is like “Well I gotta try X very soon.” I really appreciate my co-hosts Booji, Tigress, and Shrug’s additional contributions help bring balance and other flavors.
I want to look into it getting printed somehow, because I feel like I at least want it as a physical object.

If you ever replay Knights In The Nightmare make it the DS version, it’s the only three handed game that borders on four.
