Robot: You have 20 seconds to comply ("AI")

I thought the mispelling was intentional to make it seem like the kids made it and then I looked more then I read the caption

Hahahaha omg. I love those three children rising out of the hood of the school bus. Maybe they’re some sort of three-head-and-torsoed schoolbus taur. Such a creature might actually be rather fearsome in an armed conflict…? Also the child on the left with candy-red hair and a tiny American flag cape who seems to be stuffing some poor younger kid into an endless universe of flags while everyone else is distracted.

“school” is misspelled on the school bus and the little boy on the bottom right has a mustache.

None of the flags have the correct number of stars.

Bing’s implementation of Dall-e 3 was happy to draw images of Mario as long as he was in fictional videogames, but it shot me down as soon as the image stopped being a fake screenshot. It was perfectly OK with Bowsette doing whatever, as long as I didn’t describe her dress as “strapless”, and as long as it didn’t remove her skirt and then get mad at me because it had decided to remove her skirt.

Bing is so fucking horny.

elevenlabs new speech to speech is so easy and cheap (or free) to use and just “good enough” as a magic voice changer it’s the wild west out here man

gonna be a wild time for memes, scammers, dysphoria, voice actors, everything

was amazed that if i use the british voices it sort of sounds like they are “trying” to do an american accent

feel like the clock is ticking on the compute hours for all these little toys none of this shit can be profitable

They cracked one of the hardest problems of AI, which also matches my own post psychotic intuitions about how the human brain works, so I think we are both close to having AI and that AI is probably conscious

This is by known race science enthusiast and repeated grifter, lier, and abuser Scott Siskind. If he told me the sky was blue I would assume I had somehow just been mistaken for 33 years.

His cited source appears to be Connected with rationalist cult grifters. They invented this theory of AI as a way to grift money and emotionally manipulate people into supporting right wing ideas and extracting money while also getting sex.

He materially benefits from spreading the idea of ‘real AI’ because he’s one of the folks who makes money from selling soloutions to it, which of course are not real because the AI is not real, and if it ever is will not be cracked by the markov chains with delusions of grandeur we have now.

He’s not a source worth listening to about anything.

Tell me about his abuse history

I’m not sure this is in the scope of non-axe talk but I used to be friends with people connected to him and he really liked abusing his position as a doctor. He’s also stood up and protected a hell of a lot of creeps that have been publicly outed too.

I would also like to reiterate that anyone advocating for race based intelligence should be ejected out the academic airlock instantly because they have nothing of worth to say. And he definitely has advocated for that consistantly over the years.

His open association with Hanania is definitely telling. But ultimately I just think of him as the ultimate shitlib collaborator and not a fascist. If you want to DM deets about the abuse though definitely hit me up. I am bad at keeping tabs on people over that.

One thing is for certain, he abused his position as a person who could prescribe medicine to feed the growing amphetamine addiction of silicon valley’s most repulsive narcissists (sbf and sam altmam were both frequent customers)

The Beigeness, or How to Kill People with Bad Writing: The Scott Alexander Method

It would be possible, after reading all of this, to get the impression of Scott Siskind as a genius of bad rhetoric, capable of weaponizing it in subtle ways that require this sort of lengthy unpacking in order to fully appreciate. This paragraph helpfully clarifies that, no, he’s actually just a very foolish man whose inane blathering is nevertheless effective at passing off dumb ideas as smart ones.

He’s a very evil and dishonest person and I hate him.

I also want to note that one should avoid taking casual parallels between “neural networks” and actual human brains too seriously. The name of the algorithm invites you to, but there’s no reason to think it’s an apt mapping of neural activity, in the same way evolutionary algorithms are an inadequate representation of evolution.

Yeah, this is in line with what I heard back in the day. I do think what I know about him is actually worse, though.

Man that piece of writing does a lot of using ‘AI’ and ‘neuron’ as novelly-prescribed terms that don’t line up with the established lexical-semantic associations, and that alone is enough to make me take it with a grain of salt the size of the Rock of Gibraltar.

ETA: Or, what jujotech said.
