RESIDENT EVILS....

Thank you PlayStation for the film trailer.

Looks cool. Resident Evil stories are the best when they’re about “gtfo this bad situation”, imo. Code Veronica’s premise is so good, because it’s like “you’ll never get off this prison island” and Claire is all “challenge accepted, motherfucker”.

Huge fan of Cregger’s work. I wonder how he’ll manage the bigger action/gunporn focus of RE.

The number of movies, TV shows, and CG movies is truly staggering.

I hope like any good RE this starts claustrophobic and disempowering and by the final act Abrams has a grenade launcher and spouts sexless (but nonetheless adjacently gay) one liners.

the last cg movie death island was so dumb it almost rocked. there is a scene where all the re protags pull out increasingly larger weapons to fight the final boss like they were saving them up the entire game. also I think all the time about jill loudly clicking her flashlight on and off over and over again for an entire scene at the beginning like she’s stimming

I’m also a big fan of vendetta where they reveal that Rebecca Chambers is a professor at “Philosophy University”

There’s a really bad one where Ada 1v1s the president of Russia and her clothes fall apart like they are made of tissue paper. The whole time Leon is brooding about how I love America but she don’t love me and they start talking about how important it is that the Russians don’t have better Tyrants than us

I like how the lasting legacy of the netflix show was referencing an anime torrent site.

Damn, Zach Cregger RE looks legit af. I like the Paul Anderson movies but this looks like an actually good movie in its own right, if that makes sense. I should watch Weapons this weekend.

Who does Capcom think it is, acting as if it’s too good for Code?

Betting that Veronica is only half the title. The other word will start with I, and it’ll be the PVP esports half of the game.

Dropping ‘Code’ made me think of RE3 remake dropping the ‘Nemesis’ subtitle, which reminded me of @iguferon talking about how RE3 remake fundamentally betrayed Jill’s characterization in the original RE3.

Right off the bat this changes Claire’s motivation from taking the fight to Umbrella to being caught unawares, being a victim.

At least let the Ashfords unambiguously be Nazis this time around.

Capcom potentially declaring war on me personally with this one after our skirmish over the re3 remake but we’ll see…

is it just Veronica because this is technically the Fifth (V) remake in the REmake series?

i could be into this, i remember CV being so bad lol

CV is a bad game in many ways, but I think constantly about whatever Claire has on her person at the sudden disc swap means that for the remaining 45% of the game those weapons are unavailable to Chris no matter how much ammo and upgrades he finds.

Also you break out of the prison at the beginning of the game to go to the bigger prison.

And the gender stuff we are all holding their breath to see how bad they fuck it up.

I hope Steve Burnside has an impossible Gen Z haircut, as is tradition.

A controversial-pushing boundaries comedian makes a pivot to serious actor for 20 years is back with a new comedy special called “Unleashed”.

The disc swap happens at about the 50% point of the game. You continue to play Claire for another 25% of the game, at which point you have to fight the hardest boss in the game which will add a side quest that eats up your time if you get hit with one of his attacks. You’re given a unique weapon before this fight which can kill the boss in 2 hits if you figure out the most confusing scope in video game history (it kind of explains why Alfred keeps missing you). So technically you can go into this fight with no weapons, but it’s safer to bring weapons.

After the Claire section the next ~20% of the game is Chris, which is mostly cutscenes and very little gameplay. You then get access to Claire again to fix the inventory situation… if you are aware that you just need 1 healing item and no weapons. But you need that foreknowledge because it really seems like she’s going to have to fight a boss.
