I decided to try completing the bonus stage in classic mode without using the cannon, after discovering the blocks in front of it are destructible. After getting past the first set of blocks it’s pretty easy to jump over the rest of them (though I’ll say that I flubbed the last jump into the portal with more characters than I’d like to admit). I eventually safely sailed through the exit with Daisy’s parasol.
When I tried with Pichu I got squished by the blocks by the cannon, and somehow ended up zipping rightward like it was Mega Man 2 speedrun. (Sadly, this put me right over the pit.)
idk classic mode owns, but I wish that instead giving the hands even more attacks that they spent those resources making another boss or making a few more bonus stage layouts.
Now that I have completed the gauntlet and got all the characters I have kinda lost all drive to play it anymore in a single player state of mind. World of light has lost its appeal now that I have all the characters and have a few buffed spirits so I have numbers to bull my way through most of the lesser challenges. I get turned away from the stop and go nature of going through the different encounters. Because localization costs money there’s now no flavor to any of the spirits or trivia to pick up on and since there’s no talking it just feels so flavorless after the opening movie. I find myself missing smash run and smash board even if I only played them single player because no one wanted to play them. I still feel like it should’ve just had a Melee style adventure mode so you’d actually be playing the game and learning the motion of characters and you only stop for stage ends. That adventure mode felt like a journey. I didn’t mind SSBBrawls subspace emissary even though the more critical folk seemed down on it back in the day. It was fun to couch co-op with too.
Addendum: I have all the characters unlocked for proper play. I still haven’t unlocked all the fighters within WoL yet. My desire to play it is lessened now that I don’t need it to add boxes to my select screen.
nah i love it, i love how it feels like you’re watching a cheesy anime starring Kirby and friends
this game feels really nice with the pro controller and i love the flexibility of remapping all the buttons. it seems exactly like i imagined, the Wii U smash but with polish and more characters and i’m super fine with that. Online is fickle and i’ve only played with friends, but when it works, it’s really nice. Might have to get a Lan adapter, though.
I think Inkling is my favorite of the new characters. As someone who’s played hundreds and hundreds of hours of Splatoon 1/2, it feels counterintuitive that i cant refill my ink at will and have to wait till i completely run out, but that strikes me as a balance thing.
I dunno what they did to Mario, but i feel like he controls the way i always liked him in Melee and i dig it.
World of Light feels like mobile game trash and isn’t really enjoyable at all?
Oh I got this game last night, and I’ve only been playing classic mode simply to unlock characters. I got k. rool first thing on accident, then a belmont on purpose and now I’m going for
I said it before but I think Smash needs some Dragon Quest. The woke choice would be the slime or some combination of all it’s family members but getting some DQ hero might give all the Goku stans a reason to quiet down.
