Sometimes I wonder if games have imps in them…

…and sometimes I don’t have to.

This was an odd day of new releases, so we’re gonna do this a bit different today: we are gonna focus on a single company… that happened to place almost fifty games on the Steam new release list today. Most of those games listed above are by Sokpop, most of them also aren’t actually new releases. Let’s investigate!
Considering they are charging $3 per individual game (launch discount down to $2.69) that’s a 50% discount if you subscribe, but I’m sure the main question is what is the quality of your games if you release one every two weeks?
I don’t know, but let’s look at some!

This game is solely about climbing buildings and finding ducklings. Here’s a gif:

This one is a tiny adventure game about making your way through this packed city map until you reach the top.
We’ll be skipping this one!

You play as a spider here, making webs and trying to catch things.

Finally in this one you play as an archer guarding a swamp. One more gif as I like the monster shown in it:

The store page lists the longest of these games at about an hour, and the shortest at about 15 minutes. The games seem to be grouped by seasons made up of eight games each.
And that last bit explains this minor mystery that perhaps only I cared about. While the games themselves aren’t new, the seasonal listings seem to be. Their images on the list all have numbered socks on the top corner to indicate which season they belong to, and I’d have noticed them if they were a thing before today. This confused the robots who run Steam into thinking they were new listings, hence the company’s entire library ending up on the new release list.
One day I will fully understand the myriad mysteries of the Steam new release list.
I feel an intense sensation that Quinns of Shut up and Sit down fame mentioned these on a podcast I listened to three years ago.
Yeah, they’re not unknown, and they’re legit
While there is a bit to unpack there, I’m sure the main question is how would a game like this play.
I like advertising how little game your game actually has.

I don’t know why but this made me laugh too much.

I went to the game’s Steam page (wanted to see if CaveBugBoy was as much a Hollow Knight ripoff as it looked–it definitely is but also maybe it’s not totally, since it has discrete stages? I’m not sure what it is, really) and found absolute nothing sentences like this and marveled at how
This game is a love letter to Mario games and
the 20th-century popular cultures.
I began to wonder if it was a parody of how games talk about themselves
And then this happened in the system requirements and I lost my mind
Recommended at least 11-inch monitor for playing.
I’m late but:

this nothing less than art.
I feel like I’ve become numb to the… quality of writing on the store pages, but I’m kicking myself for missing that monitor bit.

Let’s see, anything else I wanted to get to today?
…Nope!

why is the jack in the box crank on top where the jack pops out i feel like that will injure children
I like the effort spent to make the backgrounds in all the picture thumbnails flow together so nicely.

I don’t remember where that Galaxy Oddity thread about tall towers is, but I think this would qualify.

tells a story about overcoming anxiety, depression, and the relationship between a boy and a girl with supernatural powers
those are incredible looking graphics but I don’t know if I am currently in the mood for The Friends of Makoto Shinkai but wow look at those pics I guess it isn’t really fully released yet though

Love that ghost(?) design.

Words to live by.
I think it’s supposed to be a music box

I feel that painting looks just a touch too detailed for the rest of the environment and that messes with me.

That’s the whole description, your guess is as good as mine.
Now excuse me what is this pretty thing
