Racoon City

Mod The Balls All Are Lickers.

Yeah the new resurrection server is a nice nostalgia kick. The community there is friendly and close knit. I played a few rounds immediately after it launched but haven’t been back since. It’s probably easier to emulate at this point rather than track down the jp releases, the network adaptor and hdd. There’s a community guide on how to sort it all out. I would be down to play again sometime.

i watched a little of a RE0 LP. it looks about as boring and tedious as every other single-player game where you have to switch characters to solve puzzles (HOT TAKE?), but the first save room is serious Mood:

can’t remember if RE0 is pre or post RE4, but billy coen was the first of the RE hunks (which are different from RE HUNK’s)

RE0 is pre RE1

The story is on its own some preposterous horseshit that only makes less sense when you think of it as a sequel. Like, the night before Jill and Chris were in the mansion with Wesker, he was in another mansion like fifty yards away, hanging out with William Birkin and watching (over video monitors) Rebecca Chambers and some random guy run around solving Resident Evil puzzles and fighting… (squinting, looking at paper) …Sephiroth??

i kind of love it but the game looks literally pretty boring.

It would be more interesting probably to try and hunt up the N64 Beta

the best way to experience RE0, by the way (from having played it) is actually Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

It’s incredible that RE2 was ported to N64. I was tempted to play that version, actually.

should i take machine gun or side pack

The item randomiser in the n64 version is a lot of fun if you replay re2 often. I wish that feature made it to the other ports. As for the machine gun/side pack, it makes no real difference. You might appreciate the extra ammo in scenario b.

I bought RE2 on PSN for two dollars because of this thread. Will I ever play it???

The giant ***** is pretty cool.

Near the end of REMake with Chris. Kind of a weirdly paced game that a lot of it is making excuses for you to trek back across the map or need one more item space. And that’s with a guide half looked and having played the game several times over.

I almost ran out of ammo for my shotgun once. That was almost scary.

Rudie whyd you take the town away

i beat Claire’s ā€œAā€ scenario in RE2. That finale really pushed my emotional buttons re: sick, sad orphans, i tell you what! i loved going full action mom at the end, all blasting my way through a mad science facility while a goddamn self-destruct alarm blares in the background, creating the vaccine to save my surrogate daughter. Really really cool game, gets a little tedious when you’re just ferrying items back and forth in the sewer/factory but otherwise it was a breezy experience and full of cool moments

i have started the ā€œLeon Bā€ game and i already like that it gets you to the station quicker, then forces you to explore it from the opposite direction. I can already tell it’s going to feel like more of a perfunctory experience though, i’m basically just doing Claire’s puzzles in a different order. Cool to finally get a shotgun though

It’s been ages since I played either Scenario B but the latter half of them gets a lot more hectic with enemy placement IIRC.

Also, enjoy Mr. X

REsurrecting this thread:

So I just downloaded RE4, 0 and REmake for PC and I’m thinking about giving RE4 a shot first.

I am the only person on sb to actually not like RE4.

I thought the breaking of boxes was stupid and tedious and I hated that enemies took several shots to the head to die the first time I played it. I didn’t like the feel of it. The shooting, mostly. Also, the codec scenes got on my nerves, even though I loved them in the MGS series, but the ones in RE4 are just not as interesting.

I tried to play RE4 twice, never getting far in it because I just didn’t like it.

Now of course I can understand and appreciate what it did for videogames, that it was revolutionary, that it was highly polished, etc. It’s probably a good game, sure. It just might not be for me. But I’m willing to give it another shot.

0 and REmake I liked a lot on the Gamecube! I’m pretty sure I’ll still like them. But we’ll see.

Re: Resident Evil Outbreak:

I was around when this game came out and I was interested in it. It was actually good from what I saw! But it came at a time that just wasn’t ready for it and I never played it myself because I didn’t go online with my PS2.

Not so! I kinda hated it at the time, and the direction the series took for years afterwards only cemented that position.

I liked the Mercenaries mode but not the main game.

I don’t particularly like anything about RE4, except the novelty of it being a video game adaptation of the movie Dagon.

I have Game Pass for free for a while on XBox One so I downloaded REmake, which I haven’t played in forever but I’ve seen people stream so many goddamn times I hopefully have absorbed some kind of skill, because I found REmake really hard vs. 0 and the older games. I want to check out the randomizer, but I don’t have the PC version, I don’t think, so…

Oh man, I’d love a randomizer for the PSX games. Resident Evil 3: Raccoon City Ransom.

thing with RE games starting from 4 is that the shooting is all about setting up melee moves, particularly with handguns, although the shooting is immensely satisfying on its own as well.

so if you’re not into suplexing ganados, then… sucks.

Yeah I don’t know this game just annoys me

I tried the KB&M controls and they are inconsistent at best. The same buttons do different things in the different menu tabs. Like, you can ā€œaccept/confirmā€ things with the left click in some tabs but for example if you want to save yout game you have to press E on the typewriter, left click doesn’t work. So that’s a fail.

Moving is weird, even when I upped mouse sensitivity to acceptable levels. You can’t really pan the camera around/turn Leon with the mouse. You still need to use WASD tank controls. I guess that’s an integral part to the game, so, okay. I got used to it.

Aiming isn’t that good with mouse either. It’s probably preferable to a thumb stick but meh

I play on easy because I thought that might fix the bullet sponginess if the enemies. I was wrong. Enemies still take 3 shotgun hits to the head from 10m away. Don’t get me started on the hand gun. BB bullets all the way. And in a way the enemies react to shots and in another they don’t. To the body they just swallow hits but if you hit arms they react appropriately. It’s just so inconsistent and feels bad.

The dialog has got to be the worst in the series up to this game. Don’t know about 5, 6 and 7. That Spanish man calling himself ā€œquite the ladies manā€ when he introduces himself is so cringe. It just makes it hard to get invested in the world for me.

Someone on Steam said that the QTEs are bugged at 60fps… Too fast or something. I don’t know if that’s true, I managed to do them so far.

I really don’t know if I can get into this game. I’ll play with a controller next and see how it goes.

I do find the tourette’s of the villagers to be mildly amusing, though

Largate cabron!
