Quick Questions XVI: Answer Time Lore

darn, it looks like bio-tek kitchen actually isn’t in that bundle. i just downloaded it and had a look and can’t find it. it says it’s part 1 though, and parts 2 and 3 are on the archive, so maybe i’ll have more luck there (kinda doubt it cos it looks like these are split up alphabetically).
this is good though cos i can see if these maps work or not and if so how.

edit: bio-tek isn’t in that bundle but it is in what is apparently the same bundle on archive dot org lmao: World’s Ultimate Bungie Software Marathon Maps Collection : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive
but it still doesn’t run! lots of the other mods do tho. got to play such classics as “the blood of bin laden” which opens with an incredibly compressed image of the twin towers being exploded lollll

random thoughts: the mod is from '99? that’s before aleph one existed, looks like. could you try using an original marathon infinity .exe? does mac/pc matter here?

the important criterion is ease of access primarily. if i can’t get it running through aleph one then yeah my next step is sheepshaver. but the existence of aleph one is so tantalising!

Are there a dark souls 2 or 3 mods that flip the game maps? I feel like it’s been long enough that I can go back and be surprised all over again….

What is the popular source of 4 Kanji and bullshit foreign/madeup word to name your media property? See: Gundam, Macross, Sailor Moon, every D-rate Super Robot thing.

could it be gatchaman?

fwiw, Jet Jaguar is def not a Jet, whereas Mecha Gojira def qualifies as Mecha in my (fanboy, OK OK) book.

Sailor Moon definitely got its naming convention straight from tokusatsu

Gorenger, Warrior of Love Rainbowman, Kikaider, they all follow that convention.

Looking into it, the originator of the convention might be Captain Ultra (宇宙特撮シリーズ キャプテンウルトラ)

It’s kind of unclear whether the kanji are part of the title of Captain Ultra or just a genre descriptor. It’s only present on some of the cover art I found

Anyway Captain Ultra looks incredible

The -man ending makes me wonder if maybe it is from some localized version of Superman, Spiderman etc.

I’ve never heard anyone talk about the 60s Japanese release of original Detective Comics so probably not.

there was a spiderman toku show in the 70s but it was simply called spiderman, no prefixes

Anyways I appreciate modern super popular anime does straight up have a dangerous minefield of kanji as a name even when confronted I first think “How the hell do I read that?”

Based off almost nothing but seeing Kikaider is 1972 tokusatsu I’m declaring this the winner.

This question predicted I would transition by like, 15ish years because I said my mom and Freud said “of course, most women do”, and so my character was a gal.

I reloaded and flipped it, but it felt really wrong to do that for some reason.

didn’t someone just make a post here about old games ending with ‘fin’

heres the original wiki entry https://namu.wiki/w/2D%20격투%20쯔꾸르%202nd as far as i can tell googling the title doesnt get much farther but the specific entry is:

  • 우얼쿵후 - 이얼 쿵후의 오마쥬 게임. 단지 차이점이라면 주인공이 이소룡같은 캐릭터가 아닌 치파오를 입은 여캐다.
