i wrote this in the Nikki thread but in case people don’t go in there, i wanted to ask which games have the best clothes technology in them? not so much the design of the clothes but the fabric and physics?
I can’t think of anything which is as good as Infinity Nikki in terms of fabric effects, but i don’t feel especially well read on the subject. I feel like there’s more they could do in physics, but i can’t think of any game that is obviously superior.

Nikki looks amazing but I feel like this is something I remember liking about MGS4 specifically. Texture of certain things just looked really nice. I think Death Stranding might’ve had the same quality for certain costumes and fabrics.

the potentiometer is always technically plastic grinding on plastic but this sounds like a bad one or one that got soldered crooked
the stick cap and faceplate are metal-on-POM so they shouldn’t be making any noticeable friction
there is also a mechanism to adjust the potentiometer tension that might be the cause. does it persist if you use the included key/driver to loosen the stick tension? (pop the stick cap off to reveal the screw for the mechanism)
if that doesn’t work you could DIY a fix with some lubricant but if you just bought it? return that sucker and only buy them from retailers with permissive return policies. the microsoft RMA process is fine if you’re in warranty but for $180 you shouldn’t need to bother

for the record, this is a known thing with Xbone and up pads
the pad that came with my Xbone in 2015 does this
I can’t speak for Elites but with regular pads, it’s not an issue you can escalate with MS support

I’m gonna continue to shill this controller because it’s the only one I use after going through an elite and two elite 2s that all failed for different reasons:

pros:
- it’s only $40
- the hall effect sticks are a real upgrade, even compared to the elite. it’s so fucking smooth.
- it has two back paddles, which is all I need
cons:
- wired, but i play on a monitor so I’m super close anyway
- rumble feels like ass, but i turn off rumble ever since i noticed it legit affects my aim
also shows dirt bc it’s white but whether this is a pro or con is up to you

Yeah it looks like 3rd party controllers are really good now. My Gamesir mobile controller is great and can stretch big enough for an iPad Mini. And my 8bitdo Ultimate is great, too. There’s something annoying about navigating the plethora of products, but I guess overseas products don’t cost as much to reiterate on?
How do I put CRT shaders over my PC games? Like if I wanted to play Dark Souls but with a CRT shader…
Reshade with the rsretroarch collection (easy answer)
Reshade with the crt guest shader (slightly less easy but still easy answer)

I use the guest shader on anything I’m not using the autohdr addon/megatron shader on. For both I have a pc monitor preset and a tv preset, for a tv preset I use something for the ntsc blur effect, either the ntsc adaptive shader or guest comes with a built in ntsc variant.
i’m probably going to want to play more rpgs when i’m done with disco elysium but they’re gonna need to have very very good scripts
what are the other (recent) rpgs with very very good scripts? if disco is a 10, are there at least some 9s and 8s out there

Suzerain (more choose your own adventure than rpg but that’s a plus in my book, smarter than disco elysium but not as crackling prose)
Pentiment (about on par with DE, tbh)
Colony Ship (easily a 9 on your chosen scale)
