There’s a team of people who are making really good progress on a translation of Tales Of Rebirth but I forgot if that’s one of the Good Ones or not.
GAME OWNS.
Does anyone know any good Greek movies (no yorgos lanthimos pls)

fwiw, really dug deep and came up with zero, which is … wow. Even EO turned out to be a polish-italian co-op, and i was SO SURE it could be Greek
i remember watching michael cacoyannis’ “zorba the greek” in college and finding it fun
in the gba’s heyday, there were a bunch of games that were unofficially like “the smart people’s gba action games”
i remember gunstar super heroes, advance guardian heroes, astro boy, ninja cop, but i know there were a few more. pocky and rocky with becky, maybe?
what else was there?
well their Japanese name “Kuribo” has the word chestnut in it, for sure
also, Goomba can be offensive, but that mostly depends on context and who is saying it, etc.
still, kind of wild that’s the word NOA chose! my grandmother thought it was kind of funny/unbelievable, at least
oh, Mario wiki:
EDIT - the above is bullshit imothis is funny. kinda reminds me of something like in House, where the “fat” girl (note: she isn’t fat) is named “Mac,” which, as is revealed later in the movie, comes from “Stomach” lmao
I think Drill Dozer is a real highlight of the system’s library, not sure if you would count it
They are definitely chestnuts in smw at least
sorry, those are Galoombas
ok wait sorry to post so much in this thread but i now want to strike this post from the record
there are zero fucking citations on that page and i couldn’t find any credible evidence pointing to the “gomba” thing in my google searches
apparently according to a Business Insider interview, Miyamoto intended them to be mushrooms but someone on the team thought they looked like chestnuts and named them so that part seems true
zero info on the Goomba origin, and so i think claiming it’s a reference to a Hungarian word as opposed to a slang word that relates to italian-american culture which NOA was plastering all over SMB in the US, is probably just misguided
Are there any notably over-ambitious Bitsy games?
Like, I know bitsy lends itself best to little vignettes and tonepieces, but I’m just curious if anything has the energy of a kid in the mid/late 90s finding ZZT and thinking they could make an epic 100-screen RPG with it, limitations be damned.
The most ambitious Bitsy game I’ve played is Redlander, which hacks the engine to make an elaborate puzzle platformer out of it. There’s an original game jam version and a demo of an unfinished even more ambitious version.

Is there any reason to play The Silver Case 2425 on switch over the PC ports? (I swear they said they were adding more content to the port but I can’t find a reference now)
The 25th Ward had a special extra episode added for its rerelease but I don’t recall the new versions of Silver Case having anything extra.
there’s a minor risk of regular silver case running poorly on your computer for weird compatibility reasons. my 2012 w7 desktop ran it well, my post 2020 w10 laptop cant handle it, but can handle 25th ward.
pretty sure there’s a demo so you can figure that out.

seemed pretty bonkers huge to me but maybe it’s not as big as it first appeared.
edit: sorry i couldn’t remember if this particular person was welcome here or what the situation was. my bad.
