Is the video game talked about in Gerry (2002) real?
Leaning no because :
- this is too much of a detailed sim to have an arbitrary horse restriction
- lava Ā« half destroying a sanctuary Ā» doesnāt sit right, games donāt tend to work like that, either your sanctuary is fine or fully destroyed, at worst it could have half HP but it would be considered fine by the game and this wouldnāt incur the wrath of Demeter
Canāt give a specific answer but he did say that he made Elephant because he got addicted to Tomb Raider so wouldnāt be out of left field for him.
This thing ruled.
I ended up with dice that were too expensive but also exactly what we wanted.

Thatās all.
I just beat recent indie search action game Astalon: Tears of the Earth entirely while listening to podcasts. It was nice! What are some other good recent search action games I can fuck around with on my PC? Bonus points if there is little-to-no dialogue. Iāve already played Hollow Knight and Environmental Station Alpha and really liked both.
Have you played FIST? I mean it has dialogue but there are long sections without it, too.
I havenāt! Iām kinda curious about that one. Iām not crazy about the art style and I heard it has fighting game style controls which Iām really not crazy aboutā¦ But it was also the Insert Credit game of the year that year, so thatās kind of intriguing.
That Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth game was pretty ok
Oh yeah, I played that! It was decent. Great looking game.
The fighting game style is not super intense, no quarter circle or anything. Iād say it has more in common with a Devil May Cry. There were some pretty difficult matches but you may be able to lower the difficulty.
Nice, and it has a demo! Iāll give it a shot.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is my favorite one in years. Maximalist 30-40 hour experience if youāre up for that
For a shorter, solo-dev one I really liked Redo!
I would like to recommend Gato Roboto as a light one that could work for Podcast accompaniment (@OneSecondBefore )
air delivery, for pico-8. itās only about 20 minutes long, but itās really nice
seconding bloodstained ritual of the night. people were hard on iga in the late 00s, but i think there was a real vacuum left by him between order of ecclesia and ritual of the night that no-one else could fill
Time Sweeper.
Pseudoregalia is a 3D search action game with N64 inspired visuals and the movement upgrades basically give you a half dozen really, really satisfying jump mechanics. It also just got a patch that added a map the other day. It fuckin slaps
As Iāve stated previously, Vision Soft Reset in the best Metrovania everyone overlooked but it has enough of a light speedrun focus (it has a loop/timetravel twist) which I am unsure would pair well with podcast listening. I also just played through Alwaās Awakening and found it to be pleasant if also not doing much to make it stand out.
Will also mention And All Would Cry Beware! as despite being short and technically also a FPS I thought it was a neat riff on the formula with above average world design/layout.
uhhā¦ iāve been playing rabi-ribi the last week or so. itās mostly just very ok but i like it more than the deedlit game. the most thought out and designed parts are the bosses, for better or worse depending on what you care about. i appreciate that itās kind of stupidly stiff about abilities and just because you learned how to do a melee attack doesnāt mean you have an aerial move yet.
itās extremely moe-brained so it could be embarassing if you are likeā¦ not inclined towards that like i am
I quite liked Momodora Reverie Under the Moonlight when I played it 6 years ago. Not too long either!
one of the best games iāve played in many years. absolute gem
