I actually got both names of it wow.
I did not hold in my head the existence of a third Contra game for NES (but not famicom). Does anyone have any emotions about Contra Force?
Sloggy Lagfest: The Game
maybe iād change my opinion if i played it on an overclocked emulator
I donāt know. I played it and it felt British. Iām not sure if thatās right but it felt like it would be right at home on a C64 or a Speccy ZX. Not quite āEuro-jankā in general but definitely UK, like a home computer port of Revenge of Shinoobi in terms of game feel.
Why are the explosives guy in contra force and the explosives bird in sonic the fighters both called Bean
I donāt know about Contra guy, but
Bean the Dynamite is based on the characters āBinā and āPinā from the 1988 Sega AM2 arcade game, Dynamite DĆ¼x, where the aforementioned ducks attempt to rescue a girl named Lucy from an evil Sorcerer known as āAchacha the Greatā. It should be noted that āBeanā is close to the Japanese pronunciation of āBinā.
I had thought the āBeanā was maybe an oddly elliptical reference to Dr. Robotnikās Mean Bean Machine but eh maybe not. = P Also I hadnāt realized he was made for StF, I thought theyād all come from earlier Sonic games. The other one invented for StF is Bark the Polar Bear (or āBark the Polerbearā as the game renders it).
I hardly even knew 'er bear
pokemon scarlet was a huge hit fyi. He just got his tyranitar and is pumped. Really appreciate the recommendation. I definitely would have bought the wrong game.
Has anyone figured out a few to embed twitter videos here on the forum? I donāt think any version of fxtwitter or vxtwitter seems to do it or to hotlink the video directly. Is there at least some external website where you can rehost them for a bit and then embed those? Wouldnāt matter if it only remained there for just a month or something.
I download 'em and fiddle for hours to get them under the ā30ā (9) MB limit for attachments so I can upload them directly
forgot to mention: big fan of giving up and then searching for the same video on YouTube
Definitely a quick question:
I havenāt played Killer7 since it first came out so I canāt remember, but at the very, very end of the game where Harman and Kun Lan have a mirror of their conversation at the beginning of the game, what was the reason that their exchanges are reversed, or altered into opposites?
First encounter: https://youtu.be/D6JGA4xSudU. Harman explains how nothing has changed for 30 years, and after some more exchanges says āletās danceā. After shooting Kun Harman states Kun is awake from his dream, and then Kun explains that the world has changed to the size where you can control with your hands, and the world will keep getting smaller.
Last encounter: https://youtu.be/h7BzNJfGKP0. After shooting Kun, Harman either states or asks Kun āYouāre awake from your nightmareā. Then Kun explains the world wonāt change, and all it does it turn. And then Kun says āletās danceā.
What was the significance of the reversal here?
Given the general themes of duality running throughout the game Iād say the ending is where these dualities are also confirmed to be paradoxical in that things literally invert but also never change. This is specifically the case for history. The ending is set in China foreshadowing a new locus for their conflict which i guess at the time was an up and coming theorised site of 21st century conflict or āWW3ā. The cycle continues but is also constantly morphing.
History is a nightmare from which I am trying to awake
itās not directly covered in the standard text but it seems clearly about the similarity between good/evil compared to leader/follower. you could replace Harman with Kun Lan and (besides the targets) Garcianās day-to-day life would be identical. the differences between the two are greatest at the surface
Iām realizing a lot of what I remember about the game was not actually as cryptic as my memory made it out to be and was actually easily understood by middle-school me. Revisiting it, I kept thinking āthere has to be something about this I never picked up on, right?ā
I think itās also partially due to any surface discourse about Killer7 both at the time and today is āKiller7, oh yeah that game is so weeeeirrrrd, like you have no idea whatās going on!ā
What was that NES style/NES hunting game two or three of you talked about in the fall?
Full Quiet?
i havenāt gotten around to it myself, but @Tuxedo described the experience as la mulana adjacent IIRC
Iāve never played a NieR game and have aquired NieR:Automata. Should I play NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139ā¦ first?
afaik thereās like, a couple little references that you might miss but otherwise i had a blast playing Automata naĆÆve
