Quick Questions XVI: Answer Time Lore (Part 4)

there’s a separate minecraft that’s free to play in China & requires a citizen ID login (and does location checks). might be a struggle to legitimately get into it. I guess this map is distributed in its marketplace/launcher

I want to believe it’s on a Cao Cao Server for natives, and as a foreigner, you will be thrown on the Lu Bu server where you are killed at every corner, making dorksouls feel like a walk in the park…

 thanks, i thought this might be the case! i wanted to use it in class, i guess some students will be able to access it but those who can will also probably be able to figure it out on their own lol

i think the non-game-specific Axe question thread is gone (unless this one is now for all questions?), but here goes:

thinkin’ about going “crazy mode” and i want to try that HD texture pack for Mario Kart 64 recompilation, but i want to run it through my CRT

so i guess 2 questions:

  • does a Mac version of the recompile exist? i heard it does?
  • what is the best way to get my Mac to output to a CRT. just an HDMI to RGB cable?

thread is back if you have un-indexed questions

you’ll need to research this, there are like step-down converters that can take a 1080p HDMI signal and give you a 480p output from RCA cables but that will look very ugly downsampled and not native at all unless you try natively outputting 480p and probably using a specific step-down converter chipset that’s popular with Macs and might require a couple of Amazon returns to fine-tune. it’s probably doable but will be a headache.

any uk posters been down any of the arcade club venues? gonna check the blackpool one next month

i’ve been to the leeds and blackpool locations.
both of them are excellent.
the leeds one is better, having tons of games from every era across several floors. the blackpool one is still excellent, though! it’s mostly on one floor, with rows and rows of 80s stand up cabinets being the bulk of the line up there, with an area of modern games like luigi’s mansion and other light gun games and one of the more recent bishi bashi games, too. iirc, they’ve also got a dodonpachi daioujou cab off in its own little area away from everything else for some reason? and a bunch of pinball tables on the ground floor as you enter.

in summary: very good, highly recommended.

A friend of mine recommended the Leeds one and I really wanna check it out. The only thing to note is it seems to be a little bit outside the city so just to plan ahead for travel

i live walking distance from leeds one, been a couple times. it’s fantastic.
staff once recommended going on either the thursday evening or the sunday. so most recently went on a sunday and it was way more chill, good tip. other times id been on a saturday and it as fine, but very busy with lots of like party type groups.

ok so i mentioned to a dear friend the paris hilton gamecube clutch:

and then recounted my favourite detail – the provenance of which i cannot remember for the life of me – which is: when asked what she was carrying in the gamecube she opened the tray to reveal slices of ham!
we (my friend and i) then spent this evening searching for evidence to substantiate this story and could find none. i don’t know when or where or how i could possibly have acquired this knowledge and i’m definitely not funny enough to make it up. so… ? ? ?
has anyone else ever heard this story before? is this a joke from a podcast? was i lied to on the playground? am i going crazy?

I have never heard this ham thing before.

the ham would have to be like cut up too no slice of ham is fitting in that tray

maybe she put ham in her actual bag that’s hanging on her shoulder?

I figure the gamecube clutch has had its internals removed to make space for ham
