Couldn’t decide between voting left or ambidextrous because basically every southpaw is at least a little ambi

I’m a lefty and found it surprisingly easy to switch from being a right-hand mouse or touchpad user all my life (actually the touchpad I used for years was centered between halves of keyboard and I could just use it with either hand but still did mostly right I think) to using a mouse left-handed a year or so ago. But I also ended up getting the worst RSI-type problem I’ve ever had on a computer from using it lefty; I guess I just got too into it, maybe too fast*. I told myself I’d go back to righty and then alternate once the left felt fine again; it has for a while now but I’m still nottttt really wanting to try it again; the right doesn’t seem to get too bad.

[*] Then again maybe it’s actually something to do with the extra keys on the right side of the keyboard pushing the hand out wider when mousing righty; like, going left you can have the hand in closer to the body due to the shorter keyboard on that side, but that also means you can put more direct weight down onto your arm/wrist/hand that way. Hm. Like, I definitely exacerbated a shoulder problem I got from leaning on my drawing board by leaning on my hand when using that centrally located touchpad, was super easy to lean heavy on that. Well I don’t know. I’ve hurt stuff worse leaning on input devices closer to my center of mass vs devices farther away. Don’t lean, of course. : P

fwiw i’m only vaguely ambidextrous, i only favor my left on specific hand eye coordination related things like batting, shooting, and boxing (tho that one might be because my dad taught me the basics and he’s a lefty.)

I am also kind of like this. Less truly ā€œambidextrousā€ and more I have landed on using each hand for different tasks. My left hand became dominant for eating because I wanted to eat and do things (like crossword puzzles at breakfast) at the same time. Chopsticks are the exception.

A roughly-defined division of labor is – stuff I do to the world, I do with my right hand. Stuff I do to myself, I do with the left.

I am ambidextrous with chopsticks, it took about an hour of practice to get my right hand used to them

I actually used to mouse with my left hand and switched to my right just because I preferred using a trackball in middle school and the one I settled on was right handed

Is the hopes for 2023 going to be our 2023 video games thread or can we also make one of those?

I swapped my mouse once and was like 5% sloppier at aiming. I was like huh, neat. and never did it again.
Untill right now.
Its ok I guess, mostly I have to think about what Im doing more. Im actually worse at typing as Im used to the keyboard being offset

findings from this very small study:

  • Nobody uses the mouse left handed full time
  • SB has about double the lefties you’d expect from a random sampling
  • Left-handedness is tied with ambidexterity to some degree, likely due to social pressures and systems designed for right-handedness
  • Many of us have tried left handed usage
  • Handedness is more of a spectrum than this poll can possibly cover

Thank you everyone for participating

i’m going to make a zine version of my ball with feet page and figured i’d open up the floor for any exceptional cases that i missed the first go. if you want to remedy a historical injustice surrounding the omission of your favourite ball with feet, now is the time…

As someone with extremely formative Lolo memories, I love this!

Also, the illustrations in the Adventures of Lolo manual demonstrated his furriness as well:

i was going to suggest a ā€œhall of heresiesā€ section filled with stuff like ā€œdiscs with feetā€, but the only examples i could think of by myself were the checker king from deltarune and that cursed crypto mascot, and then i saw that you already had a short write-up for cool spot, so now i no longer have any desire to disrupt the delicate geometric balance of your writing

curious text on the back cover

(also I, Ball 2 maybe)

(EDIT: i don’t actually care that these were omitted, i don’t know who my favourite ball with feet is)

Will the beachball alien from dark star be included as the most pre-eminent filmic example of the ball with feet?

yes!! i’m trying to include more non-videogame examples such as the weepuls, and also working on a history section where i consider whether ball with feet may just be a degraded kind of blemmyae or headless man
