I have now put at least 4 hours into Batman and I think it’s opened up my third eye and also there’s no speedrun record for it which means I have a new goal for 2022
there have been a few! here’s the most recent one outside of old Axe threads: Cooking for dummies
also
oh good call, i literally just searched for threads with ‘cook’ in the title
I know Dreamcast emulation exists to some degree now but I have no feel for how demanding it is to actually run on a PC, is it feasible to manage on an older PC (like… a decade old one) or is it surprisingly demanding? I known I was running PS2 emulation with little difficulty on this comp (think it was pcsx2) but also had some struggles with Wii emulation when I tried to test out Xenoblade Chronicles and Donkey Kong Country Returns if that helps at all.
it’s one of those things that’s had the goalposts moved a view times – I was running chankast and nullDC back on an Athlon XP in 2005, but I think demul and flycast are somewhat pickier
ReDream runs pretty dang well. I’m not sure how it’d fare on a 10 year old PC (I’ve got an old laptop I could try it on, if I can find it), but I’ve run it on a pretty low-end Android tablet without issue.
I get more or less full speed in Retroarch on a 5 year old mid-range laptop without shaders. Played all the way through Sonic Adventure 2 and spent an hour with Shenmue 1.
Based off obsessively watching youtubers that review miniPCs ReDream is the emulator to use.
In comparison to the easy modes from Streets of Rage 2 and 3, how is the easy mode from Streets of Rage 4?
I found out my kid is exactly good enough at video games to P2 easy mode in SoR. Tried some other beatemups (Final Fight, AVP, Mysteria) but they were a little too frustrating for him even with infinite continues in mame.
you can just go into the arcade cab settings and lower the difficulty I’m sure
SoR is notably easier than capcom arcade brawlers, but it’s also a console exclusive
How can I check the right going rate for a couple of games for NDS e 3DS? I have been looking at eBay auctions, but most of them are buy it now prices that vary too much in price… so I don’t know how to price mine… is there a website that I can check out?
https://www.pricecharting.com/
I used this when I sold my game collection seven years ago so there might be something better
When using eBay for price checking I filter to sold/completed, not sure if you’ve done that as well
Thanks!! I will try both ways, I did not think to try the “sold” option (I did not even know it was there)!
What is the origin of corner brackets used in Japanese as quotation marks, and what were the first games to use them in text boxes? Was this common in 20th century print media before video games were a thing?
I seem to remember them in my highschool textbooks circa ‘98–01.
The Japanese Wikipedia on these marks says that they seem to have been adapted from foreign quotation marks when the borders were opened in the Meiji restoration (1870s). It also says that the detailed origin isn’t known, that’s just an inference from how they start to be seen in printed material in this period and never before.
What the heck are people doing with PSTV’s? I just listed an America one here on Rakuma and it sold in 30 seconds. It was not a cheap number.
Easy PSP/PS1 capture/streaming via HDMI?
speedrunning!
