I had to dig up this thread recently for that exact reason a couple weeks ago.
Was the Chrono Cross battle system well received when the game originally came out?
hugely
I love that game but uh yeah the battle system sucks
I like some of the ideas but it’s just such a slog to set up your abilities, then to do it across like 40 characters ugh
I really appreciate that the game gives you the ability to fast forward, shame you have to wait until NG+
Do we have an “interesting games you discovered today” thread, or an otherwise appropriate receptacle for such?
Not specifically, although depending on the age of the game and/or the platform it’s being released on, generally you can just plug it into the corresponding thread. For example, if you found something cool on itch.io you could just stick it in that thread.
But honestly if you want to start a new thread nobody is going to give you too much grief I’d wager

What’s the word for the nasally aggressive spiciness of wasabi, mustard, and horse radish? There’s a word, right?
pungency
in the case of wasabi/mustard/horseradish, the specific chemical involved is allyl isothiocyanate
I guess this is the correct answer but, and maybe this is a “me” thing, I associate pungency exclusively with bad things like body odor. I actually like the sensation I get from eating these foods
feel like the selectbutts may know of some good ones, but i just started using Roll20 for DND and the music selection is abysmal jaunty shit and i was hoping someone might know some good recommendations for royalty free music i can upload on roll20 that’s good folk / jrpg / adventure / dnd shit
I’m here for this content, too, please
Maybe I just like blue cheese too much, but I was surprised to find Wikipedia explicitly agrees with you and suggests “piquancy” as an positive alternative.
I would describe garlic/onions as pungent
ok so what do we call capsaicin then
spicy? nutmeg is spicy. hot? that’s so confusing!
thanksgiving flavors are spiced
burny pepper things are spicy
Cinnamon is like, sweet/dry spicy. Jalapeños are like, wet/savory spicy.
So maybe wasabi is dry/savory spicy. Or at least not all the way wet.
horseradish etc is nasal spice
chili peppers are oral spice
cinnamon etc is ocular spice
Cinnamon, etc. is sneezing spice
Horseradish, etc. is flaring spice
Chili peppers are sweating spice
