seconding panzer dragoon saga, burning rangers and bulk slash, also adding panzer dragoon zwei, guardian heroes, dragon force, silhouette mirage, nights… and baroque (once the saturn version of baroque is translated)

Oh man, OH MAN! If I had to choose just any one it would be Dark Savior. I have not gotten to finish it, but the first two hours have so many strange and fascinating ideas.

Crimewave and Saturn Bomberman Fight.

Hell yeah it’s Dark Savior.

Sougurentai and since you said INTERESTING, gonna go with Nin-pen Man-Maru.

scorcher is a fun and brutal racing game for SAT

All of the above plus Shining the Holy Ark. Saturn Bomberman isn’t as interesting as Fight but it’s the best Bomberman game ever made.

comedy pick Eyeful Home

Oh I can do comedy picks: Universal Nuts, Pup Breeder, and Six Inch My Darling.

oh ho ho ho

(tbh looking in my saturn tag, there’s a bunch of stuff you might want to look into that hasn’t been mentioned yet)

I don’t know whether Mr. Bones holds up, but I remember playing it as a middle schooler and loving how dedicated it was to constantly switching genres.

IIRC @Father.Torque had the OST on his YouTube channel

It doesn’t hold up at all iirc, but that is OK. It’s a thing to see and fun to play if you aren’t taking it super seriously.

In it’s time, the Saturn was just the Treasure system for me. Like I literally bought mine when a friend found an ISO of Radiant Silvergun kicking around, and prior to that, we’d played through Guardian Heroes so many times that we knew parts of it by heart.

Is that Baroque RPG good?

yes, extremely. i’m going to write an essay about it one day. but only the wii/ps2 remake (which is fine in its own way) is playable in english atm. at least one person is working on converting a completed spanish hack of the psx port of the saturn original into english (since it was based off an english fan retranslation anyway).

ok so basically i want to play the metal slug series again cos i never played 6 or 7 and i have a roommate who likes arcade games. but on the ps4, the only way to play 6 is the anthology… i dont wanna play the anthology ports running on ps4, that sounds like a nightmare. My best plan I can think of is playing the Hamster ports of 1, X, 3, 4 and 5, the Anthology version for 6 and finally XX for 7. Somewhere in there Ill play Advance and the Pocket games.
Basically what Im asking is if this is the right way to go about it or should I just play the Anthology versions of 1-5 as well?
