daggerfall looks a lot more appealling than the full 3d elder scrolls games!
strife looks pretty much exactly like what i was envisioning!
i’d also like to mention a game called delver, which uses sprites for enemies and such, and has low res textures on everything, but it plays in a very modern full 3d style. but it’s still fun and looks beautiful. also it’s all procedurally generated, so it’s not quite the kind of thing i was asking about.
Yeah Wrath (currently) has big levels connected by bigger hub levels with small load times in between. Or maybe the hubs are smaller than the main levels. Hard to tell.
130 hours is achievable after you’ve played it once and know where to go and aren’t dallying. A first time play through could easily take twice that if you’re just casually playing and not paying a lot of attention (and thus backtracking or grinding unnecessarily).
I’m not really an authority though because I’ve not actually finished VII even once. But I could see myself taking at least a year to get through it, even devoting a whole hour or so a day five or six days a week.
based on my very recent experience, 130 is a very high estimate for a vidcon-literate adult to play through dqvii for the first time. double that would be ludicrous. i know it has a reputation for being very long but it’s not really that much longer than, like, dqxi or persona 5 or whatever. and i know people around here (me) play all that shit no problem lol
I’ve never played a Saint’s Row game, but all the buzz about them around here lately has me curious. Are they worthwhile? If I wanted to maybe just play one, where would be the best place to start? Or should I just play GTA5? Cuz I’ve also not played a GTA since the demo for GTA 2 was all the rage in middle school.
