It gives me Monkey Island vibes.

Sekiro because you can pause Sekiro.

is Street Racing Syndicate worth playing? it’s like less than a dollar and I have more than that in steam credit from selling trading cards

I’m not sure if Sekiro is better with a pause button, but Dark Souls is, and if I hadn’t already bought Sekiro, this post would’ve made me reconsider buying Sekiro.

Is Sekiro better with a DS4 or XB1 controller?

DS4 cause the bumpers on the Xbox One controller are clicky, plastic garbage and you’re gonna be feathering that block button untill you get the timing down.

Does anyone have a copy of escape velocity override set up on a mac/emulator? Can you get a copy of the game’s credits from the readme or game’s about page or wherever they are?

Awesome, thanks. After one of the updates on the remake of Override Peter Cartwright is working on I noticed mobygames didn’t have any credits for it on file, and I don’t think there’s any other good game credit sources on the internet.

is there a word for when you see a treasure chest or a collectible in the background of a cutscene and you’re like “yeah dude” and then after the cutscene you go grab it

the “yeah dude” effect

how about the opposite of this feeling, when you see a treasure chest or a collectible in the background of a cutscene and you’re like “yeah dude” but then after the cutscene you get transported elsewhere and realize you’re going to have to backtrack to get that chest that you could literally see 2 seconds ago

vaguely associated vibe: because Real games have to both be 80+ hrs of unique #content but also look like movies, when extremely distracting procgen carnage in the background undermines not only countless hours of animation/acting/scripting work but completely flips the concept of a cutscene on its head (exact authorial control used to make the player have a specific experience)

getting into STGs but dont truly understand input lag & the ppl talking about this stuff r working from a place of tech knowledge that i am nowhere near.
If im playing a PC engine game on a Pi 4 with a frame of ‘runahead’ is that going to be relatively okay? I understand the ideal would be like a CRT or FPGA or messing w/ something like “shmuparch” - but like…if im already pretty much just playin things i already got on Switch will it be noticeably worse than that, or, bad enough 2 matter?

If you don’t feel like you’re fighting against the game then you’re probably fine. A lot of STG people like to talk shit about ports and emulation to justify their astro cities and pristine Cave marquees.

I will say that certain games in specific emulation scenarios can be less than ideal, but you have to know the game well first to even discover this fact.
