Quick Questions XIV: A Question Reasked (Part 1)

It does ramp up a little slowly but there’s a lot of secret stuff and some neat mechanics. You do have to be in the mood for it. It was perfect for my sister who usually gets frustrated with these types of games.

Yeah Cosmic Express is my favorite Draknek game! The puzzles are pretty hard for me to reason about, but that’s a lot of what I liked about it. And is there a game where making train tracks isn’t fun?

By contrast I thought Carrion was great. Bite-sized, extremely evocative of its subject, does exactly what it wants to do and then it’s over. 100 games with the same ethic please

Skate thread IIRC was in Axe and got archived after being inactive for a certain amount of time. A mod can necro-thread it if desired.

bollocks. i thought that might’ve been the case. cheers.

Thanks for the feedback, I ended up going with Carrion as A) this did remind me that I still have to play Cosmic Express which I already own, and B) thanks to Steam’s weird bundle system A Monster’s Expedition is already a permanent 20% off because of other games I own so it will likely reach a similar sale’s price on Steam sooner of the two. Plus it was a buck cheaper and who knows I might need one of those at some point!

Does anyone know what the final version of AM2R (Another Metroid 2 Remake) was? 1.5.1 is easy to find but I see people talking about a 2.0 and also about Nintendo shutting the project down.

Pretty sure it’s 1.5.2, which is included in this archive: Another Metroid 2 Remake (AM2R) : DoctorM64 : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

The subreddit community has continued bug fixes and ports in the original developer’s stead

This is how I ended up doing it:

  1. Download the launcher here (the one with DownloadMe in its file name).
  2. Download the version 1.1 ZIP file here (no need to extract it).
  3. Run the launcher. After the first download step it prompts you to select version 1.1 (the ZIP file in step 2).

without spoiling anything (because i might play it someday) is resident evil 8 still in the traditional sci-fi resident evil universe where the monsters are the result of biochemical weapons research and so on?

because all the imagery i’ve seen from it makes it seem more of a demonic/great old ones cult kind of situation

The enemies are not supernatural phenomena.

I think after 7 it became clear that RE has no limits to what kind of horror tropes the series can tackle because it is able to always come up with increasingly ludicrous scientific explanations for why none of it is supernatural. And that’s part of the charm.

there is a game i remember but can’t find. it’s about some unlicensed practitioner of medicine driving a bus through a psychedelic landscape, maybe? 2000’s indie game, not by Jonatan Soderstrom but clearly in the same realm. Likely made in Game Maker.

It’s called something like “Ted Buxley: Rogue Abortionist”. I have made that up entirely.

Does anyone have any frickin idea what i’m talking about? Honestly I only played it for like 10 minutes
