Felix, that link is broken!
@idiot, modmic looks like a great idea. I have a pair of Sennheisers that I love, and it’d be nice to be able to just slap a mic onto them.

I’m glad SB has sports threads but I’m also glad people feel trepidation about talking about sports here in the same way we all feel about talking about video games anywhere else
Sports are good! They are fun to watch and talk about!
Also, some of the best writing is sports writing.
Also:
i’m gonna have to get rid of my big ol trinitron soonish in preparation for moving which means no more ps2 for a long while, does anybody have a psp they would be down to sell me for super cheap? it would be cool to be able to play monhun while i’m couch hopping but i can’t swing the ebay prices rn
My PS3 sounds like it’s dying, and I want to play Demons’ Souls. I… don’t know what to do? How can I tell if it is in fact dying?
The only true telltale sign of dying is death.
What kind of sounds is it making? For example, wheezing, grinding, beeping, clicking, popping etc. If it’s the fan making a lot of noise then it’s probably dusty inside and you need to clean it out. If it’s a clicking noise it’s probably the hard drive failing.
Check the heat and see how hot it’s getting. If it’s shutting down randomly and very hot the thermal paste might be dried out and needs to be replaced. If it’s an older model with an external power supply check and see if the indicator light is blinking and what color it is. Green is good, yellow and red means trouble.
Assuming you aren’t having hardware problems you might need to rebuild the hard disk database and/or restore the file system.
Rebuilding the database once in a while helps things to keep running smoothly and won’t affect saved games but you’ll have to reset any folders or playlists if you’re using those. It will also remove your sent/received messages. Some people mistakenly liken this to defragmenting the bad sectors on the hard drive but the PS3 isn’t set up like a Windows PC but rather it handles files like on a Linux box. Some hard disk fragmentation always occurs over time regardless but it’s not something you need to worry about on PS3.
Restoring the file system basically checks the OS file system for corrupted files and replaces them if it finds any.
Good luck.
Thanks Mr Mech. I rebuilt my PS3’s database and I was able to run through the entirety of 1-1 (minus boss. taking a break!) with no problems.
Edit: just kidding. Got stuttering right before the first boss. It starts with sound FX stuttering, but the last couple of times that lead to slowdown. I’m hoping it just needs a replacement hard drive… though I’m not sure.
If I were to play a version of Skies of Arcadia on an emulator and wanted to speed it up to make battles/exploration less painful would it be easier to do such on Dolphin or a Dreamcast emulator or is it even possible?
i’m sure people have spoken in the past of using cheats in emulators to just remove enemies altogether
which isn’t answering your question.
you can use a fast forward button or cheats. usually the cheats just remove random battles so first you need a quick level up cheat or max level or something to grind with in the beginning for a minute, then you turn on the no random battles cheat, so when you get to the non-random boss fights you’re not still level 1

it’s v possible I did this a couple months ago and made a thread abt it
As diplo mentioned elsewhere, we experienced exactly these issues with his disc but once we switched to another disc the issues disappeared. Do you have another copy of the game (borrowed from a friend or whatever) you can test out?
Have you tried playing offline? Seems like at least a few people with this issue reckon it is to do with laggy servers
Related is there spme way to inject the DC soundtrack into the GC version? Maybe the DC is just as bad since it has been over 10 years. But I tried to play the GC version and lord it was some real systemofadown-mariotheme.mp3 .maybe they both sound tinny and blip bloop.
@anothergod My copy of Demon’s Souls is still up for grabs
been watching videos of getting over it and I really want to give it a go. thing is I have only an itouch on which to play it. seems that control system on an itouch would drive even a shy bald buddhist to distraction. is it at all playable like this?
Anyone know if it’s feasible and doable: have two emulators running at the same time while receiving the same input? For example, want to test some builds in Armored Core, and would like to understand better how certain parts affect my mobility etc.
Probably with joy2key yeah.
