That was his plan, yeah. He went to the WWE writers with it, and they (or Vince, or someone) poo-poo’ed the idea. He wanted to like come out to the ring as Cody, but have the evil Stardust persona fight for control during a match, and vice versa with Cody being the good guy fighting out of Stardust, and it would have been perfectly ridiculous.
The best part is that (as I recall) he said they thought it was too ridiculous, as if having a guy in facepaint and a body suit who claimed to be from like the Fifth Dimension and searching for the Cosmic Key was not ridiculous.
Oh okay. I thought you meant they would be two completely separate characters, so they just wouldn’t even be in the same place at the same time but they would talk a lot of crap about each other.
That idea sounds like it could be a lot of. If each persona had a different fighting style and you could see elements of the other side poking through and slowly taking control- that could be fun. Is AEW going to be that kind of show or does it sound like it’ll be more grounded?
I think it is going to be more grounded than that. I know that Cody has said he doesn’t want to go back to Stardust any time soon, for understandable reasons (even if WWE owning the character wasn’t the case). But yeah, they were each going to have different personalities, styles, even voices.
Jay and Silent Bob interacting with what are basically the Hardy Boyz if they were both Jeff was definitely the strongest “WCW is back” vibe I got of the night.
I think they’ve been working with Yukes before this, but this is their first year going solo. I stated this elsewhere but given the quick turn around I can grasp why the game doesn’t look any better than previous years, but I’m lost how it appears to be running on the same engine and looks profoundly worse.
To jump back to actual wrestling for a sec, I’ve only been catching a couple “wednesday night war” AEW/NXT matches a week and it has mostly worked out great as the ones I’ve wanted to catch haven’t happened to go against each other yet. Now this week the only two matches I would plan to catch are Keith Lee/Dijakovic and Darby/Jericho and they are likely both the main event and I suddenly remember the big downside of ye olde Monday night wars.
If anyone here pisses me off, I’m gonna buy one of those giant sharpies. And I"m gonna find your grandma, and I’m gonna make marks on her medical charts!!!
yeah. second episode was not as good since it didn’t have as compelling of a main event, but I love the whole presentation. the former Damien Sandow debuts, and I look forward to more of him in that setting
