Anodyne 2?
May I interest both of you in Need For Speed 2015?
Canāt believe this year I was beaten to the punch for my yearly Spring Cleaning thread! Curse yoh @anonymous . (I donāt actually care outside of having a long tradition of doing it.)
Iāll order up a list later.
I remembered: The Snow of Basidia by Modus Interactive
But Anodyne 2 belongs on the list, very interested after reading some recent posts about it.
Crumpets wad

I had a list of six games I wanted to play during 2020 that I had bounced off of hard or outright hated the first time I tried, I got through three of them before the world got all crazy and i decided to go play through a gigantic bundle for kicks so I guess these are now my 2021 try to get to games:
- Killer 7
- Gradius V
- Bayonetta 2
PS4
Yakuza Kiwami 2
Yakuza Like A Dragon
Dreams
Cotton Reboot
Transitior
Natsuki Chronoicles
Ketsui Dethiny
ESPRaDe Psi
Battle Garrega
Contra that new one that is awful
Sleepy Dogs Replay
PS3/2/1 Saturn Dreamcast
Stuck in the closet forever
Vita
Chrono Cross
3DS
Game Center CX 3-chome
Labyrinth of Kanaya
DS
A pile of games on a flash cart I look at every night then just play picross and sudoku
If I play old games now I use the mini consoles.
Also got like 10-15 things on Steam Iāve meant to play.
All the shit i bought on ps4 in the last 2 years
Mega Man Legends 2
Misadventures of Tron Bonne
All the shit I bought on PS2 in the last XX years
Tales of Graces f
Woah I actually got through this whole list. Iām playing Kiwami 2 and Chrono Cross now.
howās that going?
I seem to be in a phase of actually playing games a fair bit these days,
Right now Iām playing:
Cyber Shadow
Overload
Blazing Chrome
Xeno Crisis
MUSHA
and Iām also pretty actively playing Game Boy games and participating in the Game Boy thread.
As I finish some of what Iām currently playing Iāll probably start playing;
The Messenger
Jet-Lancer
Cuphead
Someday, but not likely anytime soon Iāll play;
Undertale
Dusk
Itās been a long time since Iāve been this engaged in the hobby.
I have a bunch of games Iām enjoying. I have games Iām looking forward to getting around to after those, and games Iām looking forward to getting around to eventually.
Wow from this list a year go, I abandoned Yakuza but kept playing/cleared (except Spelunky 2, which Iām still playing with some frequency) everything I said I was playing then. I did get through Super Mario 3D World with my partner (but we stalled out at the last castle because she didnāt feel like playing through it when we got there and we just havenāt gotten back to it) and 13 Sentinels. The rest I havenāt touched or maybe played for like an hour. And in my RPG list, I only played FF4, which Iāve been āmost of the way throughā for like 9 months now. I need to reorient myself and finally finish it.
Iāve been getting through games very slowly, both because Iāve been kind of overwhelmed with freelance work and spending more of my time making games rather than playing them. It took me 3 months to get through SMT V (my partner has also gotten really into Stardew Valley so I havenāt had the Switch as much lately).
Anyway, hereās what Iām hoping to play/finish/spend some more time with soon:
Elden Ring
Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin
Disco Elysium
Umurangi Generation
The Good Life
Death Stranding
Final Fantasy XII
Vanquish
Dragon Quest III
Letās see how that goes.
EDIT: Oh, I did actually get to PN03. That was fun. Only did one playthrough though.

I guess I donāt have much of a list at the moment.
Every so often Iām tempted to give Silent Hill: Homecoming a shot, just because thereās nothing else like that series out there and maybe it will be tolerable. It sure has a good soundtrack, at least. But it will probably end up like the time I tried giving Downpour a chance and was sorely disappointed a short way in.
Pre-ordered a Super Nt. Theyāre supposedly going to ship in āQ2.ā Meant to hold off on buying games but started looking at eBay prices andā¦pulled some triggers.
The Combatribes (J)
The Death and Return of Superman
Final Fight 2 (J)
Funaki Masakatsu Hybrid Wrestler: Tougi Denshou (J)
Mr. Do
Super Game Boy (J)
Got the two Technos Japan games. Nine more games to go. The most expensive stuff is done, thank goodness. Going to try to hold off on more until next month. Used to have a GB; never had a SNES/SFC.
Decided to get a Sanni Cart Reader instead of the Super Nt. Went a little crazy on GameFAQs, YouTube, eBay, and ātrying before buyingā in Mesen, VisualBoyAdvanceM, and Project64. Now Iāve got:
The Combatribes (SFC)
The Death and Return of Superman (SNES)
Double Dragon II (GB)
Double Dragon Advance (GBA)
Death Brade (SFC)
Final Fight 2 (SFC)
Funaki Masakatsu Hybrid Wrestler: Tougi Denshou (SFC)
Mr. Do (SNES)
Rushing Beat Ran (SFC)
Super Game Boy (SFC)
Tetris (GB)
WCW/NWO Revenge (N64)
WWF WrestleMania Challenge (NES)
Two others I havenāt picked up yet (one SNES beat em up, one GB wrestling game).
Skimmed through loads of ātop x gamesā for GB, GBC, GBA, NES, SNES, SMS, Genesis, and N64, and I guess thatās what Iāve come up with as the essential games for that whole swath of console cartridge game history. ; ) Feeling proud of myself for having a really stupid essential classic cartridge games list. ; D Having the excuse of avoiding games with flashing FX that could give me migraines helps trim the list down a lot.
Moronically bought a bootleg Double Dragon Advance cart before noticing that not only was the seller selling it for like 1/8th of the usual price, which could have been just carelessnessāthey also had 8 of them in stock. ; P Asked for and got a refund though so huzzah.
Kind of shocking how inexpensive NES and even a lot of N64 games areāwhereas SNES and GBA seem to be kinda $$$.
Also kind of shocking how good the Aki wrestling games for N64 look and run in Project64. Hotcha hotcha.
Sure hope this cart reader thing works. ; )
It works. : )
Full list until I find other old cart games to obsess over:
Batman Returns (SFC)
The Combatribes (SFC)
The Death and Return of Superman (SNES)
Double Dragon II (GB)
Double Dragon Advance (GBA)
Death Brade (SFC)
Final Fight 2 (SFC)
Funaki Masakatsu Hybrid Wrestler: Tougi Denshou (SFC)
Mario Bros. (NES)
Mario Bros. Classic Serie (NES PAL-B)
Mr. Do (SNES)
Rushing Beat Ran (SFC)
Super Game Boy (SFC)
Super Game Boy 2 (SFC)
Tetris (GB)
WCW/nWo Revenge (N64)
WWF Superstars (GB)
WWF WrestleMania Challenge (NES)
The āClassic Serieā very late (1993, SNES had already been out there for a year, and three years in Japan) European revamped release of Mario Bros had a lot of enhancements compared with say the original FC (and later US NES) release of 1983, including air control, critters faster even than the arcade version, bigger critter sprites, less flicker, bigger fireballs, the arcade little cinematics, etc; really plays very differently, the air control makes it a faster-paced game, I guess thatās why they sped up the critters too. Kind of tricky to search for on eBay, not even sure how often it shows up there or for how muchā¦but I did manage to find a single listing, from Germany. : ) Wasnāt even too ridiculously expensive, thank goodness.
Noticed yesterday that the entire āRushing Beatā SFC trilogyāaka Rival Turf, Brawl Brothers, and The Peace Keepers to use their SNES namesāis available on Nintendoās new-ish Nintendo Switch Online service.
I ended up getting the second-to-last rather than last games in the Rushing Beat and Final Fight seriesāoh and third-to-last in Akiās N64 wrestling games. These earlier games are ridiculously less expensive than the later ones, probably just because people assume later is better. ^ _^ But my other rationalizing went like this:
Rushing Beat Ran: Went for this one because the sequel, Rushing Beat Shura, changes to a bigger, grayer art scheme and just looks less inspired somehow. And while this Japanese version is available in the US version if you enter a codeāand I guess Iād want to play the JP version because itās got more moves, ie hitting people in the junkāwith the JP version I donāt have to enter the code every time to switch over. ^ _^ Yeah I wonāt get the specifics of the story but itās a beat 'em up. : P
Final Fight 2: 3 adds super moves, with big flashing power-up indicators and big flashing FX. Donāt really need those in my eyeballs. Also, itās ridiculously overpriced; Iām not even that huge on FF1 anymore. : P
WCW/nWo Revenge: I donāt know if itās just kind of related to the different vibes of the WCW vs the WWF of that eraāWWF just sort of finally edging the WCW out in the Monday night wars and going more adult with its new āAttitude Eraā aggro drama style or whatever it wasābut Revenge immediately grabbed me, whereas the two later Aki N64 wrestlers, WWF Wrestlemania 2000 and WWF No Mercy, didnāt quite hit whatever exact sweet spot that was. Specifically, No Mercy goes for a darker, more detailed texture lookāmore muscle definition and so forthāthat I donāt really need on my big blocky wrestlers, and both W2000 and No Mercy have a handful of female wrestlers; now normally I often prefer playing female characters in say fighting games, but the way theyāre presented in this WWF scene of the time just feels skeevy, and something Iām happier to leave out. Oh and Iāve read
that No Mercy has strobing effect at the start and end of matches, which my eyeballs and whatever part of the stupid brain gets migraines are happy to avoid.
Update 2/28: Death and Return of Superman is off the list ; P
Update 3/5: Added Super Game Boy 2
