Output Devices

Audio Technica AT-RMX64 - 1986. Never heard of this bad boy, before. Classy.

Tascam 688 Midistudio - 1989. Sure, hail to the king baby and all that, what’s better than 4? 5, sure, but what’s better than 5? 8.

Akai MG614 - 1987(?). Baby’s First MG1214. A feller was gonna sell me his for $40, a year or so ago, but then he called me when I was driving there and said he couldn’t find the power cable and didn’t want to sell it without because it was ‘special’ and then never got back to me. Gotta be the coolest multitrack cassette. What a beaut.

Yamaha MT44 and MM30 Mixer + Patchbay - 1983. This little cozy setup was a couple discrete devices I guess you could purchase separately, illustrated in the second image. Apparently also recorded at normal speed, unlike other multitrackers. Interesting. Cute.

Please enjoy, as a additional free bonus, this only tangentially related but pleasant personal video-presentation from our friend MC Mike and his associates at the Akai Electric Company.

there’s barely a week that goes by without me complaining to the rest of the office that we don’t still use the serif logo

Nice overview of using sub-pixel patterns to generate mask patterns instead of conventional tiling.

From my craigslist adventure a couple months back. Ended up sitting in the dude’s truck listening to his blues guitar stylings before being on my way.

It’s really big and I’m mainly using it for tape manipulations which feels like a waste.

Sony KV-1882, 1985. I wasn’t aware of these lower-end models that share the screen protector and overall look with the Profeel range. Cool.

Check out the whole wonderful 1985 display-range catalog here.
