I didn’t spend an entire summer flexing on people in our Mech 2 league just to get punked out on a forum by some boomer 16 years later
But if you were an expert in a vidcon and could tell stories about it 16 years later, who is truly the boomer
it’s not a cutscene but i think about the 11s opener for herzog zwei all the time
also not a cutscene but the cold open on blue dragon is wonderful, the first 1:41 of this:
nobody can say i didn’t wait, or give y’all a chance, but it is now time… to get serious:
technically speaking, this registers as valid for this thread:
… i wish i was badass enough to just slap a “my daily commute vlog” next to it, post it as TruMichaelBay on #Twitter and reap the millions of ad dollars… but here I am, hanging out w/ the coolest boomers on this Gamer-Letterbox (gotta hand it to them boomers for naming things!).
but since i don’t want to kill this thread by virtue of winning it, let’s just use the real opening cutscene
which, honestly, still ranks as an all-time-fav for getting me pumped up instantly, almost a decade later, as much as it did on day 1. It just is perfection, forever. Period.
XIV also—somehow over the months of trailers “Follow Me” went from “what on Earth are they thinking with this” to… kind of inspiring. Even if the whole package feels like something from the Dreamcast or ealy PS2 era.
I’m actually going through and watching these now. I love this laser tag arena aesthetic
Warioland 4’s intro is a perfect first impression.
Remember that time Square made stuff other than Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy-adjacent games? Yeah, turns out it wasn’t a fever dream. Also, the Earth and the Moon were at war back then.
Learning where a lot of people’s avatars come from itt
I’ve always liked that one (Super Bust-a-Move), mainly because it features emesis within the first ten seconds. Still my favorite version of the game, too.
I also found the Fantavision intro memorable. Though I was never entirely sure what was in that package. Seems too large for just the game and too small for the entire console.
tokyo xanadu not only has an intro, but the intro plays at the start of every chpater, like they’re episodes of a tv show
Never actually played one of the Halo Wars, but I do love watching all the cutscenes for these on YT. For some reason they spent a shitload of money on the cinematics for a spinoff RTS series:
I think I read that those were partly made by salvaging what they could from the planned and cancelled Halo movie/TV series?
the intro to wolfchild on the mega cd is endearingly ugly, and there’s massive pauses as it loads each line of dialogue individually. please enjoy
